A Survey of Underwater Multi-Robot Systems
IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica, 2022As a cross-cutting field between ocean development and multi-robot system (MRS), the underwater multi-robot system (UMRS) has gained increasing attention from researchers and engineers in recent decades. In this paper, we present a comprehensive survey of cooperation issues, one of the key components of UMRS, from the perspective of the emergence of ...

Capabilities in Heterogeneous Multi-Robot Systems
Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2021Groups of robots are often able to to accomplish missions that no single robot can achieve by themselves. Teamwork is a very important factor in complex, dynamic domains. In heterogeneous teams, robustness and flexibility are increased by the diversity of the robots, each contributing different capabilities.

Generalized Coordination of Multi-robot Systems
Foundations and Trends® in Systems and Control, 2022Multi-robot systems have huge potential for practical applications, which include sensor networks, area surveillance, environment mapping, and so forth. In many applications, cooperative coordination of the robots plays a central role. There are various types of coordination tasks such as consensus, formation, coverage, and pursuit.

An analysis of coordination in Multi-Robot Systems
SMC'03 Conference Proceedings. 2003 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. Conference Theme - System Security and Assurance (Cat. No.03CH37483), 2004Multi-Robot Systems (MRS) are, nowadays, an important research area within Robotics and Artificial Intelligence and a growing number of systems have been recently presented in the literature. In this paper we present an analysis of the most relevant works on MRS by specifically examining their cooperative aspects.

FLIP: Prototyping multi-robot systems
Robotics and Autonomous Systems, 2005Abstract The main objective of this article is to promote the use of inexpensive and realistic prototypes to verify the applicability of state-of-the-art technologies in the area of mobile robotics and intelligent manufacturing systems. We propose a toy prototype based on a LEGO® Mindstorms™ RCX brick extended with a PDA and wireless LAN. We describe

Communications design in multi-robotic systems
2020 International Conference on Communications, Signal Processing, and their Applications (ICCSPA), 2021This paper describes the process for the design of communications in multi-robot systems using two approaches: centralized and decentralized architectures. Both approaches achieve joint collaboration through inter-robot coordination via exchange of sensor data and state information.

Formation control of multi-robot systems
2010 11th International Conference on Control Automation Robotics & Vision, 2010In this paper, we consider formation control problem for multi-robot systems under an undirected communication network. All the robots will track a leader, while form a desired formation. The leader can be static or dynamic. A distributed formation controller with neighbors' input information is applied.

On the design of multi-robot systems
Proceedings. 1984 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2005For an efficient design of multi-robot systems it is of interest to consider not only parts of the hierarchical structure but to develop a complete control concept including the dynamics of the robots involved. In spite of high practical interest relatively little work has been done on these topics so far.
