Efficient Delivery of Macromolecules into Human Cells by Improving the Endosomal Escape Activity of Cell-Penetrating Peptides: Lessons Learned from dfTAT and its Analogs

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2018
Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are typically prone to endocytic uptake into human cells. However, they are often inefficient at escaping from endosomes, which limits their ability to deliver cargos into cells.

Pretargeted Imaging with Gallium-68—Improving the Binding Capability by Increasing the Number of Tetrazine Motifs

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2018
The inverse electron-demand Diels-Alder reaction between 1,2,4,5-tetrazine (Tz) and trans-cyclooct-2-ene (TCO) has gained increasing attraction among extensive studies on click chemistry due to its exceptionally fast reaction kinetics and high ...

New Insights Into Retroviral Gag-Gag and Gag-Membrane Interactions

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2014
A critical aspect of viral replication is the assembly of virus particles, which aresubsequently released as progeny virus. While a great deal of attention has beenfocused on better understanding this phase of the viral life cycle, many aspects of ...

Optimized Solid Phase-Assisted Synthesis of Dendrons Applicable as Scaffolds for Radiolabeled Bioactive Multivalent Compounds Intended for Molecular Imaging

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
Dendritic structures, being highly homogeneous and symmetric, represent ideal scaffolds for the multimerization of bioactive molecules and thus enable the synthesis of compounds of high valency which are e.g., applicable in radiolabeled form as ...

Structure and Function of Multimeric G-quadruplexes [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
G-quadruplexes are noncanonical nucleic acid structures formed from stacked guanine tetrads. They are frequently used as building blocks and functional elements in fields such as synthetic biology and also thought to play widespread biological roles.

The LCK-14-3-3ζ-TRPM8 axis regulates TRPM8 function/assembly and promotes pancreatic cancer malignancy

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2022
Transient receptor potential melastatin 8 (TRPM8) functions as a Ca2+-permeable channel in the plasma membrane (PM). Dysfunction of TRPM8 is associated with human pancreatic cancer and several other diseases in clinical patients, but the underlying ...

Insights into the Structures and Multimeric Status of APOBEC Proteins Involved in Viral Restriction and Other Cellular Functions

open access: yesViruses, 2021
Apolipoprotein B mRNA editing catalytic polypeptide-like (APOBEC) proteins belong to a family of deaminase proteins that can catalyze the deamination of cytosine to uracil on single-stranded DNA or/and RNA.

A facile approach for the in vitro assembly of multimeric membrane transport proteins

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Membrane proteins such as ion channels and transporters are frequently homomeric. The homomeric nature raises important questions regarding coupling between subunits and complicates the application of techniques such as FRET or DEER spectroscopy.

Transcription of multimeric tRNA genes

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1984
We have constructed a set of plasmids carrying a tRNAPro gene from C. elegans in a head to tail dimeric and trimeric arrangement with virtually no spacer sequence. We show that in two different transcriptional systems, each coding region functions as an internal promoter directing the synthesis of independent transcriptional products.
