S2 BHCA—Multiple AUVs cooperation oriented control architecture

Journal of Marine Science and Application, 2005
Oceanographic survey, or other similar applications should be the applications of multiple AUVs. In this paper, the skill & simulation based hybrid control architecture (S2BHCA) as the controller's design reference was proposed. It is a multi-robot cooperation oriented intelligent control architecture based on hybrid ideas.

Deep sea AUV navigation using multiple acoustic beacons

China Ocean Engineering, 2016
Navigation is a critical requirement for the operation of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). To estimate the vehicle position, we present an algorithm using an extended Kalman filter (EKF) to integrate dead-reckoning position with acoustic ranges from multiple beacons pre-deployed in the operating environment.

Prospective research on coordinated control of multiple AUVS

2008 Chinese Control and Decision Conference, 2008
This paper proposes some feasible ideas to improve research on coordinated control of multiple AUVS in the future. Firstly, there is a glancing overview about the state of the art of coordinated multi-AUVS, especially the drawbacks in concurrent research have been indicated, and then the aim of prospective research to derive distributed and scalable ...

Cooperative positioning and navigation for multiple AUV operations

MTS/IEEE Oceans 2001. An Ocean Odyssey. Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37295), 2002
Tackles the problem of multiple AUV operations. In the implementation of a flotilla, difficulties appears specially for positioning and navigation. We present a method which doesn't use a beacon network like in long baseline positioning system. The principle is to mix communication, dead-reckoned and range measurements.

Development of ASV for using multiple AUVs operation

OCEANS 2018 MTS/IEEE Charleston, 2018
Japan has the sixth largest exclusive economic zone area in the world. It is becoming increasingly clear that seabed resources of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in Japan. They include mineral resources as well as important widely and abundantly distributed energy resources, such as methane hydrate.

Multiple AUVS for coastal oceanography

1997
This paper presents the recent developments of the project Multiple Autonomous Underwater Vehicles for Coastal Oceanography, of the University of Porto. The project envisages the development of a highly operational and low-cost system for scientific and environmental data collection in the Portuguese coastal waters. The project activities suggested the

Synoptic Data Collection with Multiple AUVs

1997
Abstract : The objective of this project is to develop and support the capability for synoptic and pseudo synoptic data collection through simultaneous operation of multiple AUVs. The goal is to use synoptic and pseudo synoptic measurements to efficiently characterize near land shallow water and sea bottom environments.

Operational Test of Multiple AUVs with an ASV

2018 OCEANS - MTS/IEEE Kobe Techno-Oceans (OTO), 2018
Recently, there is increasing concern about the seabed and demands for surveys of it. Japan has the sixth largest exclusive economic zone area in the world. It is becoming increasingly clear that seabed resources of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in Japan can include mineral resources as well as important widely and abundantly distributed energy ...

Coordination of multiple AUVs based on MOOS-IvP

IEEE ICCA 2010, 2010
This paper describes an investigation into the coordination of multiple autonomous underwater vehicle system (MAUVS). In order for MAUVS to work efficiently in such scenarios as oceanographic data gathering, a market-based approach to coordination of multiple underwater vehicles is proposed.
