Identification of the most common pathogenic bacteria in patients with suspected sepsis by multiplex PCR

open access: yesJournal of Infection in Developing Countries, 2014
Introduction: Staphylococcus aureus, coagulase-negative staphylococci, Enterococcus spp., Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumanii have been found to be the most prevalent bacteremia-causing bacteria in patients with ...

Evaluation of multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification analysis versus multiplex polymerase chain reaction assays in the detection of dystrophin gene rearrangements in an Iranian population subset

open access: yesAdvanced Biomedical Research, 2014
Background: The Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) gene is located in the short arm of the X chromosome (Xp21). It spans 2.4 Mb of the human genomic DNA and is composed of 79 exons.

Multiplex PCR for identifying mycobacterial isolates. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Pathology, 1995
AIMS--To develop a multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method to facilitate identification of mycobacterial isolates. METHODS--Type strains of 14 species of mycobacteria and 56 clinical isolates were lysed by boiling in TE Triton. The lysate (5 microliters) was used directly in a PCR reaction incorporating three pairs of PCR primers expected to ...

Ovarian Sex Cord Stromal Tumors in Children and Adolescents—The European Standard Clinical Practice Recommendations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As part of the European Cooperative Study Group for Paediatric Rare Tumours initiative, we developed standard clinical practice guidelines for ovarian sex cord stromal tumors, based on comprehensive national and international cohort analyses, literature review, and a final expert consensus conference.

Development of a multiplex polymerase chain reaction assay for the detection of Piroplasma (Babesia spp. and Theileria spp.), Anaplasma spp., and Trypanosoma evansi in cattle

open access: yesOpen Veterinary Journal
Background: Blood parasites cause serious drawbacks in the livestock industry. The detection methods rely on microscopic examination and polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which requires an expert person, labor, time, and cost.

EVALUATION OF MULTIPLEX PCR BASED TEST IN COMPARISON WITH CULTURE METHOD FOR DETECTION OF MYCOPLASMOSIS IN INFECTED CHICKENS [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary Medical Journal - Giza, 2011
A total of 94 chicken samples were examined for Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae either by culturing procedure or by using the multiplex PCR.

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

A new multiplex polymerase chain reaction assay for the identification a panel of bacteria involved in bacteremia

open access: yesAdvanced Biomedical Research, 2013
Background: Throughout the world, bloodstream infections (BSI s ) are associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality. Rapid pathogens identification is central significance for the outcome of the patient than culture techniques for microbial ...

MegaPlex PCR: a strategy for multiplex amplification [PDF]

open access: yesNature Methods, 2007
'MegaPlex PCR' is a robust technology for highly multiplexed amplification of specific DNA sequences. It uses target-specific pairs of PCR primers that are physically separated by surface immobilization. Initial surface-based amplification cycles are then coupled to efficient solution-phase PCR using one common primer pair.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.
