Abstract Background Hip adductor spasticity is a common affliction among patients with disorders of the central nervous system. Cryoneurolysis is a novel intervention for spasticity involving the application of extreme cold to a nerve. This induces axonal breakdown, relieving spasticity.

Overexpression of osteoactivin protects skeletal muscle from severe degeneration caused by long-term denervation in mice [PDF]
We have previously shown that osteoactivin, a type I membrane glycoprotein expressed in myofibers, upregulated expression of matrix metalloprotease (MMP)-3 and MMP-9 in fibroblasts infiltrated denervated skeletal muscle in mice.

We developed a 3D‐printed nerve interface integrating a biomimetic nanocomposite hydrogel with sustained delivery of thermostable FGF‐2. The bioactive interface supports Schwann cell activity and myelination while providing a regenerative microenvironment.

Canadian evidence‐based guidelines on spinal procedures for chronic pain
Summary Introduction Interventional procedures are commonly used to diagnose and treat chronic pain of spinal origin but guidance on: their indications; frequency; technical conduct; requirements for image guidance; outcome measurement; and management of complications is lacking.

Persistent muscle fiber regeneration in long term denervation. Past, present, future
Despite the ravages of long term denervation there is structural and ultrastructural evidence for survival of muscle fibers in mammals, with some fibers surviving at least ten months in rodents and 3-6 years in humans.

6‐Nitrodopamine as a Novel Mediator of Prostatic Smooth Muscle Function in Mouse and Human
ABSTRACT Background Epithelium‐derived catecholamines contribute to local regulation of genitourinary smooth muscle function, but the role of the endogenous 6‐nitrodopamine (6‐ND) in the prostate remains unknown. Objectives To determine whether 6‐ND is produced by mouse and human prostate and its role in smooth muscle regulation.

HDAC4 Controls Muscle Homeostasis through Deacetylation of Myosin Heavy Chain, PGC-1α, and Hsc70
Summary: HDAC4, a class IIa histone deacetylase, is upregulated in skeletal muscle in response to denervation-induced atrophy. When HDAC4 is deleted postnatally, mice are partially protected from denervation. Despite the name “histone” deacetylase, HDAC4
