Abstract Cells derived from the endocardium, epicardium, cardiac neural crest, and second heart field play a critical role in the formation of the valvuloseptal structures of the heart. Previous studies have shown that the expression of the transcription factor SOX9 in these cell populations is essential in the regulation of this process.

Epigenetic control of myogenic identity of human muscle stem cells in Duchenne muscular dystrophy
Summary: In Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), muscle stem cells’ (MuSCs) regenerative capacities are overwhelmed leading to fibrosis. Whether MuSCs have intrinsic defects or are disrupted by their environment is unclear.

The effects of NETs on regeneration of various diabetic tissues, and strategies targeting NETs for diabetes tissue regeneration. In the diabetic environment, NETs undergo complex metabolic and immune reprogramming, leading to dynamic changes in antibacterial and proinflammatory functions, and affecting regeneration of multiple systemic tissues.

Protocol for the isolation of mouse muscle stem cells using fluorescence-activated cell sorting
Summary: Muscle stem cells (MuSCs) are the building blocks for regenerating skeletal muscle after trauma. If we intend to maximize the therapeutic potential of MuSCs, we must further study their molecular and functional properties.

Tele‐hospitalist services to support the opening of a new rural hospital
Abstract As rural hospitals experiencing low patient volume and workforce shortages continue to close nationally, we present an innovative telemedicine care delivery model utilized to support the opening of a new 25‐bed rural hospital in South Carolina in 2023.

Species variations in muscle stem cell-mediated immunosuppression on T cells
Muscle stem cells (MuSCs) are effective in treating inflammatory diseases driven by overactive innate immune responses, such as colitis and acute lung injury, due to their immunomodulatory properties.

PTPN1/2 inhibition promotes muscle stem cell differentiation in Duchenne muscular dystrophy
Our study identifies PTPN1/2 as potential therapeutic targets for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and suggests the use of PTPN1/2 inhibitors to enhance the myogenic function of DMD muscle stem cells.

Maxillomandibular Advancement Outcomes in Obstructive Sleep Apnea by Age and Gender
This systematic review and meta‐analysis of 36 studies (608 patients) found that maxillomandibular advancement significantly improves polysomnographic, cephalometric, and subjective measures of obstructive sleep apnea across both sexes and throughout the lifespan. Odds of surgical cure decline roughly 3% per year of age.
