Cytogenetic techniques in mutagenicity testing

Agents and Actions, 1973
Both in vivo and in vitro methodologies have uses as cytogenetic test systems for mutagenicity testing. The in vivo methods are certainly the choice as the primary test system, except perhaps in the case of viruses and some biologicals. When an in vitro method is used anaphase offers some advantages as greater speed and ease of observation, the ...

Statistical problems in mutagenicity tests

Archives of Toxicology, 1977
Everyone involved in planning and carrying out biological experiments has to concern himself with statistical methods. Thus, descriptive statistics (e. g. calculation of the mean) help to present results briefly and comprehensively and, in addition, statistical test procedures permit decisions to be made even in an uncertain situation.

Mutagen Testing with the Soybean Assay

1985
The soybean (Glycine max) system tests for induction of somatic mosaicism on the leaves. This mosaicism results from genetic changes induced by the agent in question in one or more cells which are rapidly dividing. Any type of mosaicism which results in a phenotypically distinct marker can be used.

Extrapolation of Mutagenicity Testing to the Human

1982
Agricultural genetic toxicology is typical of the challenging problems now being encountered in the rapidly growing field of environmental mutagenesis. Both fields involve a rich diversity of important chemicals, some already known mutagens, a few known carcinogens; both have some hints of human toxicity, but by and large no concrete human data; and ...
