Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein and Multiple Sclerosis

Medicinal Chemistry, 2018
Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) is located on the external surface of myelin, a membranous component of the central nervous system (CNS) that forms the insulating lipid layer around neurons. The major MOG splicing variant (a1 transcript) encodes a transmembrane protein with an extracellular domain of an Ig variable (IgV) fold. MOG IgV domains

Myelin-oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) is a surface marker of oligodendrocyte maturation

Journal of Neuroimmunology, 1989
The myelin-oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) is a minor component of central nervous system myelin. Using neonatal rat optic nerve oligodendrocyte cultures we have compared the development in vitro of MOG with galactocerebroside, myelin basic protein and 2' ,3'-cyclic-nucleotide 3'-phosphodiesterase.

Optic perineuritis with anti-myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody

Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders, 2020
A 25-year-old male presented with blurred peripheral vision and movement pain in his right eye. Fundus examination revealed unilateral disc swelling in his right eye with normal intracranial pressure. MRI showed remarkably high intensity in the optic nerve sheath and slightly high intensity in the optic nerve, indicating optic perineuritis (OPN).

Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein–Associated Disorders

Continuum, 2022
Anti-myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) autoantibodies have become a recognized cause of a pathophysiologically distinct group of central nervous system (CNS) autoimmune diseases. MOG-associated disorders can easily be confused with other CNS diseases such as multiple sclerosis or neuromyelitis optica, but they have a distinct clinical phenotype

Membrane topology of the myelin/oligodendrocyte glycoprotein

European Journal of Biochemistry, 1998
Myelin/oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG), a specific component of the mammalian central nervous system, is located on the surface of the oligodendrocyte plasma membrane and the outermost lamellae of mature myelin; it is expressed during the latter steps of myelinogenesis.

Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) polymorphisms and adrenoleukodystrophy

Journal of Neuroimmunology, 2000
We describe four novel sequence variants in the Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein (MOG) gene. A total of six sequence variants of the MOG gene were identified in eleven out of 44 ALD patients investigated: G15A, CTC repeat in exon 1, Val142Leu, Val145Ile, 551+68A-->G and 551+77C-->T.
