Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells and Radiotherapy

Cancer Immunology Research, 2022
Abstract Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) are a heterogeneous population of pathologically activated, mostly immature, myeloid cells that exert robust immunosuppressive functions. MDSCs expand during oncogenesis and have been linked to accelerated disease progression and resistance to treatment in both preclinical tumor models ...

Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells

2007
The development of tumor-specific T cell tolerance is largely responsible for tumor escape. Accumulation of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in animal tumor models as well as in cancer patients is involved in tumor-associated T cell tolerance.

Myeloid derived suppressor cells in transplantation

Current Opinion in Immunology, 2011
Myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSC) are a heterogeneous population of hematopoietic derived cell precursors that can suppress immune responses in a variety of inflammatory settings. Here we review recent studies detailing expansion of phenotypically and functionally disparate MDSC.

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells in glioma

Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics, 2013
Glioblastoma is the most prevalent form of gliomas with high aggressive nature and high recurrence. Despite aggressive therapy, including surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, median patient survival is only about 15 months. Hence, developing novel and efficient therapies seem urgent.

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells in transplantation

Current Opinion in Organ Transplantation, 2010
Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are a heterogeneous population of immature cells that are considered as potential therapeutic targets. Indeed, MDSCs have been shown to suppress immune responses to several types of tumor cells and blocking their suppressive activity may adequately enhance immune response against tumor antigens. On the contrary,

Myeloid Derived Suppressor Cells

2016
Myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) comprise a phenotypically heterogeneous population of cells, which can be found in tumor bearing mice and in patients with cancer. MDSCs play a central role in the induction of peripheral tolerance. Together with regulatory T cells (Tregs) they promote an immunosuppressive environment in tumor-bearing hosts.

Myeloid‐derived suppressor cells in parasitic infections

European Journal of Immunology, 2010
AbstractMyeloid‐derived suppressor cells (MDSC) are a heterogeneous population of immature myeloid cells that share a common property of suppressing immune responses. Several helminth and protozoan parasite species have developed efficient strategies to increase the rate of medullary or extramedullary myelopoiesis and to induce the expansion and ...

Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells in Cancer

2007
Accumulation of suppressive leukocytes is the hallmark of several pathological conditions, including tumors. Among these leukocytes, myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are thought to play a major role in regulating antitumor immunity. MDSCs encompass a heterogeneous population characterized by its myeloid origin and ability to suppress T-cell ...
