Preparation of azide biosynthetic surrogates of myo-Inositol

open access: yes, 2015
As a prelude to biomolecular incorporation studies, practical routes to a series of four regioisomeric azido-deoxy derivatives of inositol that mimic the natural myo-stereochemistry are described.

Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Cells Utilize IL8 and CXCL1 to Suppress NK Cells’ Function and Facilitate Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells evade natural killer (NK) cell immunity by secreting IL8 and CXCL1. These chemokines suppress NK cells’ function via CXCR1/2 and enhance cancer cells’ survival through PD‐L1 upregulation and BCL‐2 anti‐apoptotic signaling.

Determining the Nutritional Potential of Ancient Wheat Species: A Closer Look at Starch and Protein Digestibility, and Phenolic Acid Content

open access: yesCereal Chemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives The recent trend towards healthy food choices and sustainable agriculture has revived interest in underutilized wheat species such as emmer, einkorn, and spelt. Given these developments, the objective of the study was to compare the differences in chemical composition and digestibility characteristics among ...

Myo-inositol and beyond – Emerging networks under stress

open access: yes, 2011
Myo-inositol is a versatile compound that generates diversified derivatives upon phosphorylation by lipid-dependent and -independent pathways. Phosphatidylinositols form one such group of myo-inositol derivatives that act both as membrane structural ...

Effects of Wheat Bran‐Derived Arabinoxylan Oligosaccharides on Dough and Noodle‐Making Properties

open access: yesCereal Chemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives This study investigates the structural modifications of arabinoxylan (AX) through enzymatic hydrolysis and evaluates the potential application of arabinoxylan oligosaccharides (AXOS) as functional ingredients in wheat noodles, contrasting their effects with those of native AX.

Synthesis and iron binding studies of myo-inositol 1,2,3-trisphosphate and (±)-myo-inositol 1,2-bisphosphate, and iron binding studies of all myo-inositol tetrakisphosphates

open access: yes, 1996
The first syntheses of the natural products myo-inositol 1,2,3-trisphosphate and (±)-myoinositol 1,2-bisphosphate are described. The protected key intermediates 4,5,6-tri-O-benzoyl-myoinositol and (±)-3,4,5,6-tetra-O-benzyl-myo-inositol were ...

Effects of Dehulling and Extrusion‐Cooking on the Nutritional and Physicochemical Properties of Navy Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Flours

open access: yesChemFoodChem, EarlyView.
Dehulling combined with twin‐screw extrusion improves the nutritional and functional properties of steam treated navy beans. Protein digestibility increases while phytic acid is reduced by 43% and trypsin inhibitors are inactivated. Enhanced expansion, solubility, and sensory quality highlight the potential of dehulled bean flours for developing ...

Putative Astroglial Dysfunction in Schizophrenia: A Meta-Analysis of 1H-MRS Studies of Medial Prefrontal Myo-Inositol

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2018
Background: Several lines of evidence support a role for astroglial pathology in schizophrenia. Myo-inositol is particularly abundant in astroglia. Many small sized studies have reported on myo-inositol concentration in schizophrenia, but to date these ...
