Contraction-Band Formation in Barnacle Myofibrils
Science, 1964Contractions induced by adenosine triphosphate, in myofibrils isolated from the barnacle, Balanus aquilia , were observed with a phase microscope. The formation of contraction bands was well under way before the A-band came into contact with the Z-membrane.

Passive force enhancement in single myofibrils
Pflügers Archiv - European Journal of Physiology, 2007The purpose of this study was to gain further insight into passive force enhancement by testing whether passive force enhancement occurs in single myofibrils. Myofibrils (n = 6) isolated from rabbit psoas muscle were fixed at a sarcomere length of 2.4 microm, and then stretched passively and actively to a sarcomere length of 3.4 microm.

[Turbidity of myofibril suspensions].
Biofizika, 1993Turbidity (optical density) of isolated myofibril suspensions was investigated at different concentrations, light wavelengths and solid angles of the spectrophotometer photocell. The turbidity is shown to be strongly dependent on the condition of its measurement which does not permit to obtain correct values suitable for theoretical interpretation.
