Characterisation of immunosuppression in rabbits after infection with myxoma virus

open access: yesVeterinary Microbiology, 2008
Myxoma virus (MXV) causes the systemic disease myxomatosis in the European rabbit. Despite many in vitro studies on the function of MXV immunomodulatory proteins and detailed molecular knowledge of virus, little is known about the dynamics of interaction of the virus with the integrated host-immune system during infection.

Myxoma Virus M083 Is a Virulence Factor Which Mediates Systemic Dissemination

open access: yes, 2018
Poxviruses are large, DNA viruses whose protein capsid is surrounded by one or more lipid envelopes. Embedded into these lipid envelopes are three conserved viral proteins which are thought to mediate binding of virions to target cells.

Histological differences at the primary myxoma site from rabbits infected by the Myxoma virus strains.

open access: yes, 2015
NZW rabbits were inoculated with 100 PFUs of Myxoma virus WT, M138L Del, M138L STOP or M138L Rev strains in the left flank. A. Haematoxylin-eosin staining at day 4 p.i. B. Haematoxylin-eosin staining at day 9 p.i.

Myxoma virus in rabbits : interaction with the immune system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017

Virulence evolution of a salmonid virus following a host jump.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens
Emergent viral diseases remain a critical obstacle to welfare across landscapes and species, encompassing humans, wildlife, and agriculture. Following a jump to a novel host, the severity of disease resulting from infection is a critical determinant of ...

Selective Purging of Human Multiple Myeloma Cells from Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation Grafts using Oncolytic Myxoma Virus

open access: yes, 2012
Autologous stem cell transplantation and novel therapies have improved overall survival of patients with multiple myeloma; however, most patients relapse and eventually succumb to their disease.
