GDP‐fucose transporter SLC35C1: a potential regulatory role in cytosolic GDP‐fucose and fucosylated glycan synthesis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 15, Issue 8, Page 1336-1349, August 2025.
The inactivation of SLC35C1 (GDP‐fucose transporter) and enzymes involved in GDP‐fucose biosynthesis was studied. Fucose supplementation increases the level of GDP‐fucose to abnormal, millimolar values in the absence of the TSTA3 protein and SLC35C1 in contrast to the GMDS/SLC35C1 double mutant.

Synthesis of Molecularly Imprinted Polymerand its Molecular Recognition Propertiesof N-Acetylneuraminic Acid

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2007
A molecular imprinting technique was applied in this work to detect N-acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5Ac) and its analogue structure. Twomolecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) were prepared using Neu 5Ac as the template molecule, as well as methacrylic acid ...

Large‐Scale Chemoenzymatic Synthesis of a Glycophorin A Tetrasaccharide Motif and Its Analogues

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2025.
A large‐scale chemoenzymatic method was developed to synthesize natural and modified analogues of the Glycophorin A tetrasaccharide with either C9 or C5 terminal α‐2,3‐sialic acid variants. Selective α‐2,6‐sialylation of galactosamine was achieved by maintaining acetylation of the galactose during the course of enzymatic reactions. The products can aid

In vitro and in vivo modification of Neisseria gonorrhoeae lipooligosaccharide epitope structure by sialylation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
After growth of gonococci in the presence of cytidine monophospho-N-acetyl-neuraminic acid (CMP-NANA), their 4.5-kD lipooligosaccharide (LOS) component was increased by approximately 400 daltons, whereas the LOS of strains lacking the 4.5-kD component ...

Morphology and Glycan Composition of the Mandibular Glands in the White‐Eared Opossum (Didelphis albiventris)

open access: yesJournal of Morphology, Volume 286, Issue 8, August 2025.
This study analyzed the morphology and glycan composition of the mandibular salivary glands of the white‐eared opossum (Didelphis albiventris) via histological and glycohistochemical investigations. The glandular parenchyma consisted of acinar units and a duct system with abundant striated ducts.

Structure of carbohydrate chain of a thrombin-like protease from the venom of Agkistrodon halys brevicaudus stejneger snake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The structure of the carbohydrate chain of kangshuanmei, a thrombin-like serine protease isolated from Agkistrodon halys brevicaudus stejneger snake venom, was determined. The carbohydrate content of the kangshuanmei was 18%.

Atypical Influenza A(H3N2) Activity Patterns in Germany, 2021–2023, and Characterization of Newly Emerged Virus Clades

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 97, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT The first waves of the COVID‐19 pandemic were accompanied by an unprecedented decrease of influenza activity which persisted throughout the 2020/21 and 2021/22 winter seasons. Here, we report on the unusual influenza circulation patterns that followed in the year 2022, which was dominated throughout by A(H3N2) influenza viruses.

Cytidine monophospho-N-acetylneuraminic acid hydroxylase (CMAH) mutations associated with the domestic cat AB blood group

open access: yesBMC Genetics, 2007
BackgroundThe cat has one common blood group with two major serotypes, blood type A that is dominant to type B. A rare type AB may also be allelic and is suspected to be recessive to A and dominant to B.

DNA-binding transferrin conjugates as functional gene-delivery agents: synthesis by linkage of polylysine or ethidium homodimer to the transferrin carbohydrate moiety [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
We have previously demonstrated that transferrin-polycation conjugates are efficient carrier molecules for the introduction of genes into eucariotic cells.
