N-Heterocyclic Carbene Iron Silyl Hydride Complexes

open access: yes, 2017
International audienceReaction of N-heterocyclic carbene iron(0) tetracarbonyl complexes with hydrosilanes (triphenylsilane, methyldiphenylsilane and diphenylsilane) under UV irradiation (350 nm) afforded the octahedral N-heterocyclic carbene iron(II ...

Together We Are Stronger: An Unexpected Synergistic Effect During Anionic Ligand Exchange in Ruthenium Olefin Metathesis Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 13, 2 July 2026.
Combining dichloro and diiodo ruthenium catalysts produces mixed chloro–iodo species via in situ halide exchange, resulting in a new, more efficient catalytic system. The mixed catalysts outperform their homo‐anionic counterparts, delivering enhanced activity, higher conversion, and strong suppression of isomerization under both thermal and ...

Synthesis of Quinolines and Tetrahydroquinolines From Aromatic Propargylamines via Activator‐Free Gold Catalysis in Hexafluoroisopropanol

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 13, 2 July 2026.
A straightforward, gold‐catalyzed cycloisomerization of aromatic propargylamines is reported, enabling efficient access to quinoline and tetrahydroquinoline derivatives. Hexafluoroisopropanol acts as both solvent and activator, eliminating the need for silver salts or additives.

The Solid‐State Emission of AIPE‐Active Tricarbonylrhenium(I) Complexes Shifts to the Red: The Unexpected Performance of Triphenylphosphine Derivatives

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
New phosphino tricarbonylrhenium(I) complexes have efficient red emission in the aggregate and solid states. The good photostability and the vast possibilities of chemical modifications make these Re‐based complexes the starting point of a new generation of red emitters with aggregation‐induced phosphorescence emission (AIPE) characteristics.

Chiral N‑Heterocyclic-Carbene-Catalyzed Cascade Asymmetric Desymmetrization of Cyclopentenediones with Enals: Access to Optically Active 1,3-Indandione Derivatives

open access: yes, 2019
A chiral N-heterocyclic-carbene-catalyzed cascade asymmetric desymmetrization reaction of cyclopentenediones with enals has been successfully initiated, followed with tandem aldol annulation, aromatization, as well as sequential methylation.

Unlocking Catalyst Activation as a Critical Bottleneck in Cross‐Coupling Reactions: Room‐Temperature Couplings of Weak Nucleophiles Enabled by [Pd(1‐MeNAP)TFA]2 Precatalysts

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 27, 1 July 2026.
In many Pd‐catalyzed cross‐couplings, catalyst performance has been found to be limited by catalyst activation. Methylnaphthyl (MeNAP) palladium trifluoroacetate dimers are presented as easy‐to‐store and easy‐to‐handle precursors, which rapidly activate under reaction conditions, even when only weakly coordinating, non‐reducing nucleophiles are present.

NH Bond Activation of Hydrazine Using Cyclic (alkyl)(amino)carbenes and Boranes

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 7, July 2026.
EtcAAC activates the NH bond of phenyl‐substituted hydrazines, forming EtcAAC(H)(N2HnPh3‐n) (n = 1–2). In contrast, the reaction between EtcAAC and unsubstituted hydrazine (N2H4) undergoes further decomposition. Productive NH activation of N2H4 is achieved by incorporating boranes both inter‐ and intramolecularly, leveraging their distinct binding ...

When Dark States Become Bright: Vibronic Intensity Borrowing in Triplet 2,6‐Dichloro‐4‐Hydroxyphenylnitrene

open access: yesJournal of Physical Organic Chemistry, Volume 39, Issue 7, July 2026.
Irradiation of 4‐azido‐2,6‐dichlorophenol in cryogenic matrices generates triplet 2,6‐dichloro‐4‐hydroxyphenylnitrene. Vibronically structured absorption enables extension of a formally forbidden transition into the visible region (up to 500 nm). Analyses based on NICS(1.7)zz, ACID, HOMA, MCI, and spin density reveal magnetically induced ring currents ...

Gold(I)‐Mediated Reactivity of Allenes With Mesoionic Nucleophiles: A Computational Exploration

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 24, 23 June 2026.
The regioselective gold(I)‐mediated reactivity of allenes with mesoionic nucleophiles has been evaluated through computational analysis of the mechanisms involved. Instead of typical (3 + 2) pathways, sydnones and münchnones favour the formal (3 + 3) cyclizations affording substituted dihydropyridines.
