Peptide‐Incorporated Biomaterials Promote Regeneration of Peripheral Nerve Injuries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Peptide‐incorporated biomaterials provide precise, tunable biological cues that mimic functional protein domains to regulate behaviors of neurons, Schwann cells, immune cells, and endothelial cells, thereby enhancing axon elongation, Schwann cell support, inflammatory microenvironment modulation, and vascularization, offering a promising alternative to

Single-cell quantitative expression of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor mRNA in rat hippocampal interneurons.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Hippocampal interneurons are a very diverse population of cells. Using single-cell quantitative PCR to analyze rat CA1 hippocampal interneurons, we quantified neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) mRNA subunit expression and detailed possible

Influence of Tobacco Smoke Exposure on the Protein Expression of α7 and α4 Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors in Squamous Cell Carcinoma Tumors of the Upper Aerodigestive Tract (Out of the Larynx)

open access: yesSubstance Abuse: Research and Treatment, 2018
Purpose: To assess protein expression of α7 and α4 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) subtypes in squamous cell carcinoma of the upper aerodigestive track (out of the larynx) according to tobacco smoke exposure, considering the general ...

The current agonists and positive allosteric modulators of α7 nAChR for CNS indications in clinical trials

open access: yesActa Pharmaceutica Sinica B, 2017
The alpha-7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7 nAChR), consisting of homomeric α7 subunits, is a ligand-gated Ca2+-permeable ion channel implicated in cognition and neuropsychiatric disorders.

Alpha5 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor mediated immune escape of lung adenocarcinoma via STAT3/Jab1-PD-L1 signalling

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2022
Background Immunotherapy has proven to be an emerging treatment for non-small-cell lung cancer in recent years. Notably, smokers show higher programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1) expression and better responses to PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors than nonsmokers ...

The distribution of charged amino acid residues and the Ca(2+) permeability of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors: a predictive model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are cation-selective ligand-gated ion channels exhibiting variable Ca(2+) permeability depending on their subunit composition.

Skeletal Editing from Pyridine to Aniline via C‐Insertion and N‐Isomerization

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
A concise protocol is presented that converts pyridines into anilines by externalizing the original pyridine nitrogen at either the "ipso" or "ortho" position, which results in para or meta‐primary aniline products. A key carbene‐insertion step precedes nitrogen migration, preserving both ring size and overall structure.

Alpha5 Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor Contributes to Nicotine-Induced Lung Cancer Development and Progression

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2017
Nicotine and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are considered to be involved in lung cancer risk, onset and progression, but their precise physiological roles in these contexts remain unclear.

The Expression of the Alpha7 Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor and the Effect of Smoking in Curdlan-Administered SKG Mice

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2023
Nicotine, an abundant molecule in tobacco, has immunomodulatory effects on inflammatory diseases, primarily due to the activation of alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7 nAChR).

Engineering Lipid Nanoparticles for Precision RNA Delivery: Design Principles, Targeting Strategies, and Clinical Prospects

open access: yesCancer Nexus, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) represent the most clinically advanced platform for RNA delivery and have enabled major breakthroughs in vaccines and gene therapies. However, their broader application is still limited by inefficient extrahepatic delivery, immunogenicity, and insufficient control over tissue‐ and cell‐specific targeting. This review
