Targeting Multilayered Metabolic Networks in Brain Diseases: Emerging Perspectives on Nanodelivery Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Brain diseases involve multilayered metabolic disruptions that reshape cellular interactions and microenvironments. This review outlines core metabolic features across disease states and presents emerging nanodelivery strategies as precision tools to reprogram pathological metabolism.

Measuring the rate of NADPH consumption by glutathione reductase in the cytosol and mitochondria.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
BackgroundNADPH is an essential co-factor supporting the function of enzymes that participate in both inflammatory and anti-inflammatory pathways in myeloid cells, particularly macrophages.

The Mitochondrial Protein RESISTANCE to APHIDS 9 Interacts with S40 to Resist Aphid Infestation by Modulating Reactive Oxygen Species Homeostasis in Maize (Zea mays)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the mitochondrial protein RTA9, a member of the Domain of Unknown Function 641 family, together with its partner S40, as key regulators of aphid resistance in maize. RTA9 promotes S40 degradation and modulates reactive oxygen species accumulation.

A genetically encoded tool for manipulation of NADP+/NADPH in living cells

open access: yesNature Chemical Biology, 2017
NADH and NADPH are redox coenzymes broadly required for energy metabolism, biosynthesis and detoxification. Despite detailed knowledge of specific enzymes and pathways that utilize these coenzymes, a holistic understanding of the regulation and ...

Optimized Monothiol Thioredoxin Derivative (ORP100S) Protects In Vitro and In Vivo from Radiation and Chemotoxicity Without Promoting Tumor Proliferation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Native thioredoxin‐1 (TRX) stimulates proliferation and rescues stem cells and cancer cells from multiple stressors by suppressing p53 and inhibiting ferroptosis via GPX4/SLC7A11 upregulation mediated by enhanced KLF4 expression and p53 promoter binding.

Crosstalk between HDAC6 and Nox2-based NADPH oxidase mediates HIV-1 Tat-induced pro-inflammatory responses in astrocytes

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2017
Histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) likely is important in inflammatory diseases. However, how HDAC6 exerts its effect on inflammatory processes remains unclear.

Glabridin‐Gold(I) Complex as a Novel Immunomodulatory Agent Targeting TrxR and MAPK Pathways for Synergistic Enhancement of Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Complex 6d could promote tumor immunogenicity by targeting thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) and remodel immunosuppressive microenvironment by the mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway inhibition simultaneously. This study provides a novel approach to develop metal immunomodulatory agents by designing gold complexes incorporating natural products,
