The interaction of morphine and nalorphine on respiration

Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1968
A study was carried out in volunteers to determine the relative potency as respiratory depressants of nalorphine and morphine and their interaction when administered together. The relative potency of nalorphine when compared to morphine was found to be 0.74 (13.5 mg. nalorphine ≎ 10 mg. morphine).

Sigma effects of nalorphine in the chronic spinal dog

Drug and Alcohol Dependence, 1976
The effects of graded doses of nalorphine and morphine were studied in nondependent chronic spinal dogs. Morphine and low doses of nalorphine produced behavioral changes characterized by indifference, whereas the largest dose of nalorphine produced canine delirium indistinguishable from that produced by SKF-10, 047 or cyclazocine.

Morphine and Nalorphine impair Neuromuscular Transmission

Nature New Biology, 1971
THE narcotic analgesic morphine and the analgesic-antagonist nalorphine both depress the twitch and tetanus of the coaxially stimulated guinea-pig ileum1. There is general agreement that morphine impairs the release of acetylcholine at this peripheral muscarinic site1–4. Less is agreed about the effects of morphine at nicotinic sites1,5–7.

Antibody-bound nalorphine released on challenge with morphine [PDF]

open access: possibleNature, 1975
IN mice treated with morphine coupled to bovine serum albumin (BSA), antibodies are formed which bind injected morphine and reduce its analgesic effect1. The possible therapeutic implications of this observation have been speculated on2, but a calculation of the number of morphine-binding ligands of a satisfactory antibody titre gives a theoretical ...

Pentazocine, cyclazocine, and nalorphine as discriminative stimuli

Psychopharmacology, 1977
Pentazocine, cyclazocine, and nalorphine are narcotic antagonists that also have analgesic activity of their own. The present investigation compared the stimulus properties of these three drugs in rats. Each drug was used as a discriminative stimulus for a separate group of rats.

A study of the interaction of nalorphine with fentanyl and innovar®

Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1964
Abstract The lower segment of the biphasic mortality dose response curve of fentanyl citrate appears to be due to respiratory depression and is readily antagonized by nalorphine. The analgesic activity of fentanyl citrate and of Innovar ® is also antagonized by nalorphine, as is the case with morphine.
