Synthesis, in silico analysis, and biomedical effects of coumarins derived from resveratrol

open access: yesPhytomedicine Plus, 2023
Background: Resveratrol (RVL) is a polyphenol-containing natural product found in a variety of plants, including peanuts, grapes, and berry fruits. The use of RVL is linked in a great deal of research to a number of therapeutic properties. Methods: In an

Synchronized Imaging of Hydrogen Peroxide and Hydroxyl Radical in Pyroptosis and Epilepsy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A dual‐responsive fluorescent probe, HH, enables synchronized visualization of H2O2 and •OH through spectrally resolved green and red channels. By tracking redox dynamics in pyroptosis and epilepsy models, HH reveals ROS elevation during seizure‐like pathology and supports evaluation of antioxidant and antiepileptic therapeutic interventions.

Lipophilicity of natural coumarines

open access: yesAnnales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Skłodowska, Pharmacia, sectio DDD, 2011
<p>Coumarins are the class of natural compounds found in many medicinal plants with broad spectrum of activity. Many of them are also used as pharmaceutical substances, so there is an urgent need for efficient method of their isolation from the natural sources.

Insulin–Mimetic Dihydroxanthyletin-Type Coumarins from Angelica decursiva with Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 1B and α-Glucosidase Inhibitory Activities and Docking Studies of Their Molecular Mechanisms

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2021
As a traditional medicine, Angelica decursiva has been used for the treatment of many diseases. The goal of this study was to evaluate the potential of four natural major dihydroxanthyletin-type coumarins—(+)-trans-decursidinol, Pd-C-I, Pd-C-II, and Pd-C-

Pyrazole‐Derived Antibacterial Compounds Effectively Treat Methicillin‐Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Infections by Inhibiting Aspartate Transcarbamoylase

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study unveils a novel antibacterial mechanism against MRSA, in which the compound Py‐27 selectively targets and inhibits aspartate transcarbamoylase (ATCase), a key enzyme in pyrimidine synthesis. This inhibition disrupts DNA replication, induces oxidative damage, leading to potent bactericidal activity.

Photoactivated Platinum Complexes: Targeting Membrane Proteins and Organelles for Precision Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This review highlights an emerging anticancer approach integrating platinum agents into photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photoactivated chemotherapy (PACT) systems, further augmented by cancer cell membrane‐ and organelle‐targeting. By directing photoactivated platinum complexes from nontargeted distribution to cancer cells or defined subcellular sites ...

Kinetics and Molecular Docking Studies of 6-Formyl Umbelliferone Isolated from Angelica decursiva as an Inhibitor of Cholinesterase and BACE1

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
Coumarins, which have low toxicity, are present in some natural foods, and are used in various herbal remedies, have attracted interest in recent years because of their potential medicinal properties. In this study, we report the isolation of two natural

Kidney‐Targeted Cilastatin Nanoparticles Inhibit DPEP1‐Mediated Ferroptosis for Acute Kidney Injury Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, MPDA NPs were engineered to encapsulate CTT. To further increase renal accumulation of CTT, L‐serine was conjugated to the surface of the MPDA nanoparticles (CTT/MPDA@L‐Ser NPs). CTT/MPDA@L‐Ser NPs inhibit DPEP1 activity, thereby restoring ferroptosis defense mechanisms through upregulation of GPX4 and SLC7A11 expression, ultimately ...

The Landscape of Long Non‐Coding RNAs Provides Insights Into the Domestication and Improvement of Pear Fruit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that long non‐coding RNAs represent important regulatory components underlying pear domestication and improvement. Integrative multi‐omics analyses identify selected lncRNAs associated with fruit traits, while functional validation uncovers a lignin‐related lncRNA, lncRNA‐pys, that promotes lignin accumulation.

Should I Stay or Should I Go—Leveraging an Overlooked Feature of Click‐to‐Release Chemistry for Affinity Labeling

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Click‐to‐release (C2R) chemistry is redirected from payload liberation toward ligand‐directed covalent protein labeling through a transient dihydropyridazine methide (DHP‐methide). This concept opens the way to dual‐functional systems combining covalent target engagement with controlled effector release.
