Near Infrared Photoimmunotherapy for Cancer
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2019Near infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT) is a molecularly-targeted cancer photo-therapy based on antibody-photoabsorber (IR700) conjugates. By crashing cancer cells combined with innate and/or adjuvant immune-activation, NIR-PIT activates anti-cancer immunity resulted in curing local and metastatic cancers.

Near-infrared photoimmunotherapy: basics and clinical application
Japanese Journal of Clinical OncologyAbstract Use of antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) is rapidly increasing in the field of oncology. While ADCs exhibit strong and cell-selective cytotoxicity, they do not show spatial selectivity. Near-infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT, Alluminox™) utilizes photoactivatable ADCs, that is, antibody–photoabsorber conjugates (APCs).

Near-infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT) is a cell-specific cancer therapy in which antibody-photoabsorber conjugates (APCs) are activated by NIR light to induce rapid immunogenic cell death with minimal off-target effects. In preclinical settings, bioluminescence imaging (BLI) is useful to quantitatively assess the efficacy of NIR-PIT for both in ...

Near-infrared photoimmunotherapy for salivary duct carcinoma
Auris Nasus LarynxIn Japan, near-infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT) was introduced in 2021 as a treatment option for unresectable recurrent head and neck cancer. The treatment targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), which is overexpressed in 80-90 % of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).

Abstract 4118: Near infrared photoimmunotherapy for lung metastases
Cancer Research, 2015Abstract Introduction and Purpose Lung metastases are a leading cause of cancer related deaths. Current therapies include surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy but cause considerable side effects in the remaining normal lung, chest wall and heart.

Synthesis and biological evaluation of EGFR binding peptides for near-infrared photoimmunotherapy
Bioorganic & Medicinal ChemistryNear-infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT) is a new cancer treatment that involves photoimmunotherapy drug injection and NIR light exposure. In NIR-PIT, antibodies are commonly used as target-directed molecules carrying IRDye700DX (IR700). However, antibodies have disadvantages, such as high cost, complex development strategies, and poor tumor ...
