The neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) is important for numerous cellular processes that involve antibody recycling and trafficking. A major function of FcRn is IgG recycling and half-life prolongation, and FcRn blockade results in a reduction of autoantibodies

The neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) promotes antibody recycling through rescue from normal lysosomal degradation. The binding interaction is pH-dependent with high affinity at low pH, but not under physiological pH conditions.

[The neonatal receptor Fc gamma(FcRn)--structure and function].
The neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) is named for the source from which it was first purified, the intestinal epithelium of neonatal rats. The human homologue of FcRn was first found in the placenta, where is presumably involved in transfer of maternal IgG to the fetus.

Receptor-Mediated Endocytosis and Brain Delivery of Therapeutic Biologics
Transport of macromolecules across the blood-brain-barrier (BBB) requires both specific and nonspecific interactions between macromolecules and proteins/receptors expressed on the luminal and/or the abluminal surfaces of the brain capillary endothelial ...

FcRn regulates antigen presentation in dendritic cells downstream of DEC205-targeted vaccines
Dendritic cell (DC)-targeted vaccination is a new mode of antigen delivery that relies on the use of monoclonal antibodies (mAb) to target antigen to specific DC subsets.

Intravaginal Administration of Fc-Fused IL7 Suppresses the Cervicovaginal Tumor by Recruiting HPV DNA Vaccine-Induced CD8 T Cells [PDF]
Purpose: The induction of tissue-localized virus-specific CD8 T-cell response is essential for the development of an effective therapeutic vaccine against genital diseases, such as cervical cancer and genital herpes.
