Production and characterization of virus-like particles of grapevine fanleaf virus presenting L2 epitope of human papillomavirus minor capsid protein

open access: yesBMC Biotechnology, 2019
Background Virus-like particle (VLP) platform represents a promising approach for the generation of efficient and immunogenic subunit vaccines. Here, the feasibility of using grapevine fanleaf virus (GFLV) VLPs as a new carrier for the presentation of ...

Characterization of a putative novel nepovirus from Aeonium sp.

open access: yesVirus Research, 2013
A virus was isolated from potted plants of an unidentified species of Aeonium, a succulent ornamental very common in Southern Italy, showing chlorotic spots and rings on both leaf surfaces. It was successfully transmitted by sap inoculation to a limited range of hosts, including Nicotiana benthamiana which was used for ultrastructural observations and ...

Sustainable sweetpotato production in the United States: Current status, challenges, and opportunities

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 116, Issue 2, Page 630-660, March/April 2024.
Abstract Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas L.) is an important staple crop cultivated in over 100 countries, and the storage roots and vines provide food for humans and livestock. Sweetpotato consumption and demand for its value‐added products have increased significantly in the last two decades and have led to new cultivar development, expansion in acreage,

Investigating the role of viral integral membrane proteins in promoting the assembly of nepovirus and comovirus replication factories

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2013
Formation of plant virus membrane-associated replication factories requires the association of viral replication proteins and viral RNA with intracellular membranes, the recruitment of host factors and the modification of membranes to form novel ...

Rootstocks for Grapevines Now and into the Future: Selection of Rootstocks Based on Drought Tolerance, Soil Nutrient Availability, and Soil pH

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Grape and Wine Research, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Rootstocks are used in viticulture to manage plant pests and diseases, particularly phylloxera and root‐knot nematodes, and to improve grape and wine production. A wide range of rootstocks are commercially available, making selecting the optimal rootstock a difficult decision.

Nucleotide sequence of Hungarian grapevine chrome mosaic nepovirus RNA1

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1989
The nucleotide sequence of the RNA1 of hungarian grapevine chrome mosaic virus, a nepovirus very closely related to tomato black ring virus, has been determined from cDNA clones. It is 7212 nucleotides in length excluding the 3' terminal poly(A) tail and contains a large open reading frame extending from nucleotides 216 to 6971.
