Systems Network Pharmaco-Toxicology in the Study of Herbal Medicines
2017Analytic “‘omic” techniques and systems biology driven bioinformatics have increasingly been a game changer in the study of herbal drugs, thanks to the simultaneous detection of entire molecular families in a given biological system, and the ability to collect, classify, network, and visualize a large number of analytical data through bioinformatics ...

Network toxicological analysis of sodium dehydroacetate in food safety
Food and Chemical ToxicologySodium dehydroacetate (Na-DHA), a synthetic preservative under tightened regulations, was evaluated for multi-organ toxicity using network toxicology. ADMETlab3.0 predicted genotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, and carcinogenicity risks. Target mining identified 13 cancer-related, 11 liver injury-related, and 8 genotoxicity-related core genes, with shared hubs

Case study: the role of mechanistic network models in systems toxicology
Drug Discovery Today, 2014Twenty first century systems toxicology approaches enable the discovery of biological pathways affected in response to active substances. Here, we briefly summarize current network approaches that facilitate the detailed mechanistic understanding of the impact of a given stimulus on a biological system.

Perspectives in toxicologic pathology: quantification of bile canalicular networks
Archives of Toxicology, 2014compounds often lead to hyperplasia of hepatocytes. Therefore, the novel method presented by Hammad and colleagues provides a potentially powerful tool to quantify aspects of liver microarchitecture that could prove indispensable in toxicological pathology.

Food and Chemical Toxicology
This study aimed to explore the underlying mechanisms and key targets of widely used plasticizers, including dimethyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), and dioctyl phthalate (DOP), in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Network toxicology, molecular docking, and dynamics simulation screened candidate targets for plasticizer in ...

Polyethylene terephthalate microplastics (PET-MPs) have emerged as a significant environmental concern due to their persistence and potential health hazards. Their role in degenerative diseases, particularly intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), remains poorly understood, highlighting the need for systematic evaluation of their molecular toxicity ...

Reproductive Biology
Current research indicates that polyethylene terephthalate microplastics (PET-MPs) may significantly impair male reproductive function. This study aimed to investigate the potential molecular mechanisms underlying this impairment. Potential gene targets of PET-MPs were predicted via the SwissTargetPrediction database.

Environmental Pollution
N-(1,3-Dimethylbutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine quinone (6PPDQ), a derivative of the tire antioxidant 6-PPD, has recently emerged as an environmental contaminant of concern. This study employed a network toxicology framework to explore its potential role in psoriasis.
