Pubertal development and hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis are altered in male mice lacking Mecp2

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 38, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Mutations in the MECP2 gene, encoding the epigenetic reader Methyl‐CpG binding protein 2, are the main cause of Rett syndrome, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder. Besides severe symptoms such as profound intellectual disability, loss of speech and motor skills, and epilepsy, loss of function of MECP2 has been associated with pubertal ...

Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Alters Neuropilin-1, PlGF, and SNAI1 Expression Levels and Predicts Breast Cancer Patients Response

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2019
Circulating proteins hold a potential benefit as biomarkers for precision medicine. Previously, we showed that systemic levels of neuropilin-1 (NRP-1) and its associated molecules correlated with poor-prognosis breast cancer. To further identify the role

Aptamer‐Based Delivery Systems for VEGF and NGF Modulation in Ocular Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 23, 19 June 2026.
Aptamer‐based delivery systems targeting NGF and VEGF hold significant potential for precise and sustained treatment of complex diseases affecting both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. This review critically summarizes current strategies for NGF and VEGF delivery as well as VEGF sequestration, providing a clinical perspective on how ...

VSMC phenotypic switching in thoracic aortic aneurysm at single‐cell resolution: Trajectories, regulatory circuits, and spatial niches

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2026.
•Single‐cell/spatial multi‐omics identify four VSMC phenotypic states in TAA progression. •KLF4 as master hub (TGF‐β/TNF‐α/mechanical stress) orchestrating chromatin remodelling. •Pseudotime trajectories mapping contractile phenotypes towards osteogenic (RUNX2/SOX9) and inflammatory (TNF‐α/IL‐6) fates within spatial medial niches. •cfDNA biomarkers and

Neuropilin‐1 regulates renin synthesis in juxtaglomerular cells

open access: yes
International audienceAbstract Renin is the key enzyme of the systemic renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system, which plays an essential role in regulating blood pressure and maintaining electrolyte and extracellular volume homeostasis.

Design of a Cyclotide Antagonist of Neuropilin‑1 and -2 That Potently Inhibits Endothelial Cell Migration

open access: yes, 2016
Neuropilin-1 and -2 are critical regulators of angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, and cell survival as receptors for multiple growth factors. Disulfide-rich peptides that antagonize the growth factor receptors neuropilin-1 and neuropilin-2 were developed ...

DAMP Laden Extracellular Vesicles From the Airways of Patients With Severe SARS‐CoV‐2 Respiratory Infection Compromise Inflammation and Cellular Metabolism

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
Extracellular vesicles from severe COVID‐19 airways carry depleted miRNAs and elevated DAMPs, reprogramming monocytes toward senescence, impaired metabolism, and predominantly reduced cytokine responses. However, they drive excess IL‐8 production, amplifying neutrophil recruitment and dysfunctional inflammation across the respiratory tract.

Systemically Administered, Target-Specific, Multi-Functional Therapeutic Recombinant Proteins in Regenerative Medicine

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
Growth factors, chemokines and cytokines guide tissue regeneration after injuries. However, their applications as recombinant proteins are almost non-existent due to the difficulty of maintaining their bioactivity in the protease-rich milieu of injured ...
