Abstract Objective Childhood cancer and cancer‐related treatments disrupt brain development and maturation, placing survivors at risk for cognitive late effects. Given that assessment tools vary widely across researchers and clinicians, it has been daunting to identify distinct patterns in outcomes across diverse cancer types and to implement ...

Bistable equilibrium points of mercury body burden [PDF]
In the last century mercury levels in the global environment have tripled as a result of increased pollution from industrial, occupational, medicinal and domestic uses \cite{BaMe03}. Glutathione is known to be the main agent responsible for the excretion of mercury (we refer to \cite{Thim05}, \cite{ZalBar99} and \cite{Lyn02}).

Transport of BMAA into Neurons and Astrocytes by System x\u3csub\u3ec\u3c/sub\u3e- [PDF]
The study of the mechanism of β-N-methylamino-l-alanine (BMAA) neurotoxicity originally focused on its effects at the N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor. In recent years, it has become clear that its mechanism of action is more complicated.

Neurologic Abnormalities in Workers of a 1-Bromopropane Factory [PDF]
We reported recently that 1-bromopropane (1-BP; n-propylbromide, CAS Registry no. 106-94-5), an alternative to ozone-depleting solvents, is neurotoxic and exhibits reproductive toxicity in rats.

The tumor microenvironment‐responsive nanoagonists are developed using an organic–inorganic copolymer composed of the polymer (PC6AB) and manganous phosphate ionic oligomers (MnP). PC6AB with membranolytic activity selectively interacts with tumor cell membranes to induce immunogenic cell death, while MnP activates the STING pathway in immune cells ...

Abstract Objective This study sought to evaluate the feasibility of multifunctional gastrodin (GAS)‐containing nano‐drug carrier system against cerebral ischemia–reperfusion injury (CIRI). Methods The drug‐loaded nanocomposite (Au‐G5.NHAc‐PS/GAS) with certain encapsulation efficiency (EE) was prepared by physical adsorption method using different ...

Acrylamide: Increased concentrations in homemade food and first evidence of its variable absorption from food, variable metabolism and placental and breast milk transfer in humans [PDF]
We have developed a liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) assay to determine acrylamide in various body fluids. The assay also allows the reliable quantitation of acrylamide in food. In a total of 11 healthy male and female subjects, we were

Identification and Application of a Novel Patulin Degrading Enzyme From Meyerozyma guilliermondii
Patulin (PAT), a hazardous mycotoxin, threatens human health. A novel yeast‐derived short‐chain dehydrogenase/reductase effectively degrades PAT into nontoxic ascladiol via catalytic triad activity. The biological detoxification process has no significant effect on the quality of fresh pear juice.
