Cloning, expression, and localization of a rat brain high-affinity glycine transporter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A cDNA clone encoding a glycine transporter has been isolated from rat brain by a combined PCR and plaque-hybridization strategy. mRNA synthesized from this clone (designated GLYT1) directs the expression of sodium-and chloride-dependent, high-affinity ...

Irregular convergence of mild solutions of semilinear equations [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Math. Anal. Appl., Vo. 472, No. 2 (2019), 1401-1419, 2018
We prove that even irregular convergence of semigroups of operators implies similar convergence of mild solutions of the related semi-linear equations with Lipschitz continuous nonlinearity. This result is then applied to three models originating from mathematical biology: shadow systems, diffusions on thin layers, and dynamics of ...

Biointerfacing with AgBiS2 Quantum Dots for Pseudocapacitive Photostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated that AgBiS2 quantum dots exhibit unique photoinduced pseudocapacitive charge transfer properties, enabling efficient light‐to‐electrical energy conversion. These quantum dots facilitate enhanced light absorption and transduction when integrated with ZnO nanowires, which serve as an effective charge transport medium.

An Updated Review on Electrochemical Nanobiosensors for Neurotransmitter Detection

open access: yesBiosensors, 2023
Neurotransmitters are chemical compounds released by nerve cells, including neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes, that play an essential role in the transmission of signals in living organisms, particularly in the central nervous system, and they ...

Tin‐Based 2D/3D Perovskite Vertical Heterojunction for High‐Performance Synaptic Phototransistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Phototransistors based on tin‐based 2D/3D perovskite heterostructures show an ultrahigh responsivity and detectivity at a low gate voltage across a broad wavelength region from ultraviolet to near‐infrared. The devices can replicate neuromorphic learning and remembering behaviors to light stimuli, in addition to electric depression and memory erasure ...

Metabolic Disturbances in the Striatum and Substantia Nigra in the Onset and Progression of MPTP-Induced Parkinsonism Model

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2018
Metabolic confusion has been linked to the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD), while the dynamic changes associated with the onset and progression of PD remain unclear. Herein, dynamic changes in metabolites were detected from the initiation to the

Kv3 Channels: Enablers of Rapid Firing, Neurotransmitter Release, and Neuronal Endurance.

open access: yesPhysiological Reviews, 2017
The intrinsic electrical characteristics of different types of neurons are shaped by the K+ channels they express. From among the more than 70 different K+ channel genes expressed in neurons, Kv3 family voltage-dependent K+ channels are uniquely ...

In-vivo Magnetic Resonance Imaging of GABA and Glutamate [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Chemical Exchange Saturation Transfer (CEST) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a molecular imaging methodology capable of mapping brain metabolites with relatively high spatial resolution. Specificity is the main goal of such experiments; yet CEST is confounded by spectral overlap between different molecular species.

The influence of anesthetics, neurotransmitters and antibiotics on the relaxation processes in lipid membranes [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys. Chem. B 111 (2007) 13858-13866, 2007
In the proximity of melting transitions of artificial and biological membranes fluctuations in enthalpy, area, volume and concentration are enhanced. This results in domain formation, changes of the elastic constants, changes in permeability and slowing down of relaxation processes. In this study we used pressure perturbation calorimetry to investigate

Tunable Tactile Synapses Enabled by Erasable Doping in Iongel‐Gated Nanotube Network Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Artificial tactile synaptic sensors are realized by an iongel‐gated single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) transistor with reversible doping characteristics. The device senses and memorizes tactile stimuli and exhibits gate bias‐dependent excitatory or inhibitory synaptic behavior.
