Transcriptional responses of Biomphalaria pfeifferi and Schistosoma mansoni following exposure to niclosamide, with evidence for a synergistic effect on snails following exposure to both stressors.

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2019
BackgroundSchistosomiasis is one of the world's most common NTDs. Successful control operations often target snail vectors with the molluscicide niclosamide.

Desolvation Processes in Channel Solvates of Niclosamide

open access: yesMolecular Pharmaceutics, 2023
The antiparasitic drug niclosamide (NCL) is notable for its ability to crystallize in multiple 1:1 channel solvate forms, none of which are isostructural. Here, using a combination of time-resolved synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetry, the process-induced desolvation mechanisms of methanol and acetonitrile solvates are investigated.

The PINK1 Activator Niclosamide Mitigates Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Thermal Hypersensitivity in a Paclitaxel-Induced Drosophila Model of Peripheral Neuropathy

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2022
Paclitaxel is a widely used anticancer drug that induces dose-limiting peripheral neuropathy. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been implicated in paclitaxel-induced neuronal damage and in the onset of peripheral neuropathy. We have previously shown that the
