Plaque‐Targeted Delivery of Fluoride‐Free MXene Nanozyme for Alleviating Atherosclerosis via Sonocatalytic Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has developed a dual enzyme‐mimicking and ultrasound‐responsive Nb2C‐Pt@HA‐PEG nanozyme. ROS‐eliminating and antiinflammatory capability of Nb2C‐Pt@HA‐PEG under US irradiation are demonstrated on macrophages and endothelial cells in vitro. Nb2C‐Pt@HA‐PEG‐mediated sonocatalytic therapy exerts an outstanding anti‐atherosclerosis efficacy by ...

An Ultrapotent, Ultraeconomical, Antifreeze Polypeptide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Simple and inexpensive polypeptides composed of random copolymers of alanine and glutamic acid are effective antifreezes for applications in foods and biomedicine. The polypeptides, inspired by natural extremophile proteins, inhibit the growth of large ice crystals and prevent damage to sensitive biologics.

Degradation of reactive red 195 by selected bacteria from textile wastewater [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Four selected bacterial strains coded R1, R2, Rc and Rd were successfully isolated from raw textile wastewater. They were screened for their ability to degrade an azo dye of Reactive Red 195 on solid and in liquid dye-containing media.

Self‐Sterilizing Face Mask Employing Enzymatic Power Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Electric face mask with flexible biofuel cell integration for on‐the‐go sterilization is developed utilizing ethanol oxidation via alcohol dehydrogenase, and oxygen reduction via bilirubin oxidase. Modified face mask exhibited bacterial death rates of 40–60% at only 20 µA of electric current, easily generated by the biofuel cell continuously over hours

Synthesis, crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of a 1D coordination polymer catena-poly[[diaquabis(nicotinamide-κN1)nickel(II)]-μ-fumarato-κ2O1:O4]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2018
The reaction of NiCl2 with fumaric acid and nicotinamide in basic solution produces the title polymeric complex, [Ni(C4H2O4)(C6H6N2O)2(H2O)2]n. The NiII cation, located on an inversion centre, is coordinated by two O atoms of the fumarate dianions, two N

The Influence of Nicotinamide on Health and Disease in the Central Nervous System

open access: yesInternational Journal of Tryptophan Research, 2018
Nicotinamide, the amide form of vitamin B3 (niacin), has long been associated with neuronal development, survival, and function in the central nervous system (CNS), being implicated in both neuronal death and neuroprotection. Here, we summarise a body of
