Mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation is stimulated by red light irradiation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Light at different wavelengths has distinct effects on keratinocyte viability and metabolism. UVA light abrogates metabolic fluxes. Blue and green light have no effect on metabolic fluxes, while red light enhanced oxidative phosphorylation by promoting fatty acid oxidation. Keratinocytes are the primary constituents of sunlight‐exposed epidermis.

The role of fibroblast growth factors in cell and cancer metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling regulates crucial signaling cascades that promote cell proliferation, survival, and metabolism. Therefore, FGFs and their receptors are often dysregulated in human diseases, including cancer, to sustain proliferation and rewire metabolism.

Mixed ligand complexes of acesulfame/nicotinamide with earth alkaline metal cations MgII, CaII, BaII and SrII: synthesis and characterization

open access: yesHittite Journal of Science and Engineering, 2014
In the scope of this study, acesulfame ace, acs -nicotinamide na mixed ligand complexes of Mg II , Ca II , Sr II and Ba II were synthesized for the first time. Possible formulas for complexes were determined as [Mg H2O 4 na 2] acs 2, [Ca H2O 6 na 2]

Overview on topical 5-ALA photodynamic therapy use for non melanoma skin cancers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Ultraviolet radiation (UV) contributes to a variety of skin diseases including inflammation, degenerative aging, and cancer. Historically, humans have been exposed to UV radiation mainly through occupational exposure; recreational UV exposure, however ...

Comprehensive profiling of lncRNAs and mRNAs enriched in small extracellular vesicles for early noninvasive detection of colorectal cancer: diagnostic panel assembly and extensive validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Small extracellular vesicles are a promising source of diagnostic molecules. We conducted a comprehensive study, including transcriptome profiling and RT‐qPCR validation on large cohorts of samples. Diagnostic panels enabling sensitive detection of colorectal cancer and precancerous lesions were established. Some molecules were differentially expressed

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Dual Antimelanogenic Effect of Nicotinamide-Stabilized Phloretin Nanocrystals in Larval Zebrafish

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2022
Melanin is a kind of dark insoluble pigment that can cause pigmentation and free-radical clearance, inducing melasma, freckles, and chloasma, affecting the quality of life of patients. Due to poor water solubility and low safety, the absorption of poorly
