Novel ETFE based radiation grafted poly(styrene sulfonic acid-co-methacrylonitrile) proton conducting membranes with increased stability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Styrene radiation grafted ETFE based proton conducting membranes are subject to degradation under fuel cell operating conditions and show a poor stability. Lifetimes exceeding 250 h can only be achieved with crosslinked membranes.

2,6-Dibromo-4-nitrobenzonitrile

open access: yesIUCrData, 2017
Molecules of the title compound, C7H2Br2N2O2, have C2v symmetry and each lie on a twofold axis that bisects the benzene ring and its nitro and cyano substituents.

Crystal structures of methyl 3,5-dibromo-4-cyanobenzoate and methyl 3,5-dibromo-4-isocyanobenzoate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2018
The title crystals, C9H5Br2NO2, are the first reported 2,6-dihalophenyl cyanide–isocyanide pair that have neither three- nor two-dimensional isomorphism. Both crystals contain contacts between the carbonyl O atom and a Br atom.

Hepatotoxicity of Two Progoitrin-Derived Nitriles in New Zealand White Rabbits

open access: yesToxins, 2020
Cattle occasionally develop brassica-associated liver disease (BALD) and photosensitisation when grazing turnip or swede (Brassica spp.) forage crops. The liver toxin in these brassica varieties has yet to be discovered.

Seasonal Variation of Glucosinolate Hydrolysis Products in Commercial White and Red Cabbages (Brassica oleracea var. capitata)

open access: yesFoods, 2020
Brassica vegetables contain glucosinolates, which are well-known for their potential to form health-promoting isothiocyanates. Among those crucifers, white and red cabbage are commonly consumed vegetables, exhibiting different glucosinolate and ...

Nitrile ylides: allenic and propargylic structures from pyrazinylnitrenes. Experimental and theoretical characterization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Matrix photolysis of 2-pyrazinyl azides/tetrazolo[1,5-a]pyrazines generates nitrile ylides 15 via pyrazinylnitrenes 13 and triazacycloheptatetraenes 14.

Functional Expression and Characterization of a Panel of Cobalt and Iron-Dependent Nitrile Hydratases

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Nitrile hydratases (NHase) catalyze the hydration of nitriles to the corresponding amides. We report on the heterologous expression of various nitrile hydratases.

Kinetic, Spectroscopic, and X-Ray Crystallographic Evidence for the Cooperative Mechanism of the Hydration of Nitriles Catalyzed by a Tetranuclear Ruthenium-μ-oxo-μ-hydroxo Complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The tetranuclear ruthenium-oxo-hydroxo-hydride complex {[(PCy3)(CO)RuH]4(μ4-O)(μ3-OH)(μ2-OH)} (1) was found to be a highly cooperative catalyst for the nitrile hydration reaction. The cooperative mechanism of the hydration of benzonitrile was established

SIRT4 positively regulates autophagy via ULK1, but independently of HDAC6 and OPA1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells expressing SIRT4 (H161Y), a catalytically inactive mutant of the sirtuin SIRT4, fail to upregulate LC3B‐II and exhibit a reduced autophagic flux under stress conditions. Interestingly, SIRT4(H161Y) promotes phosphorylation of ULK1 at S638 and S758 that are associated with inhibition of autophagy initiation.
