Investigating Hydrothermal and Radiation Effects on Nitrogen Heterocycles Relevant to Meteorite Parent Bodies

open access: yes, 2017
Organic compounds in meteorites were likely transformed by a variety of processes on the asteroid parent body including aqueous, thermal, and radiolytic alteration.

Three Component Thio‐ and Carboboration of Alkynes: A Modular Route to Functionalised Bicyclic Boronates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Three‐component thio‐ and carbo‐boration reactions to form functionalised benzoxaborinines and benzazaborinines are reported. The nucleophile scope includes thioethers, thiols, and (hetero)arenes. Mechanistic studies revealed a disparity between thioboration using thioethers and using thiols.

Methylene Insertion into Nitrogen‐Heteroatom Single Bonds of 1,2‐Azoles via a Zinc Carbenoid: An Alternative Tool for Skeletal Editing

open access: yesAdvanced Science
The nitrogen‐heteroatom single bonds of 1,2‐azoles and isoxazolines underwent methylene insertion in the presence of CH2I2 (6 equiv.) and diethylzinc (3 equiv.) to produce a wide variety of the ring‐expanded six‐membered heterocycles.

π‐Extended COUPY Fluorophores for Targeted Near‐Infrared Fluorescence and Lifetime Imaging in Live Cells

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
π‐Extended COUPY dyes, obtained by vinylogation of coumarin‐based COUPY scaffolds, shift absorption, and emission deep into the NIR region while preserving compactness and synthetic accessibility. These bright, photostable dyes enable live‐cell imaging, FLIM, and site‐specific peptide conjugation, offering a modular platform for targeted bioimaging and

A Mononuclear Ruthenium(V)‐Imido Complex With Hydrogen Bonding in the Second Coordination Sphere Forming Aziridines Without N‐Substituents From Alkenes in Water

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This study employs a RuV═NH complex with hydrogen‐bonding (HB) sites in the SCS to afford non‐N‐substituted aziridines selectively. Nitrogen‐atom transfer occurs from the RuV═NH complex to alkenes in water to produce aziridine derivatives in high yields.

Synthesis of six membered heterocycles containing nitrogen or oxygen

open access: yes, 2005
Six-membered heterocycles containing nitrogen and oxygen are prevalent in natural products and pharmaceutical drugs; hence efficient synthesis of these motifs is of great benefit.
