Spectrophotomatic Assay for the Enzyme Catalyzed Reaction of 4-nitroquinoline 1-oxide with Glutathione [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
4-Nitroquinoline 1-oxide (4NQO(is a toxic and carcinogenic compound that has been reported to be subject to conjugation with glutathione (GSH). This reaction may proceed non-enzymatically or be catalyzed by GSH transferases.

Insufficient Expression of the Autophagic Protein ATG16L1 Results in Accelerated Carcinogenesis Related to an Aberrant B Cell Response

open access: yesCancer Reports, Volume 9, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Autophagy‐related proteins (ATGs) regulate a great variety of cellular responses beyond autophagy. In cancer, the role of ATG proteins is central, as evidenced in spontaneous cancer emerging in animals lacking ATG proteins. Aim To determine whether ATG16L1 may be participating in tumorigenesis in colonic and oral mucosa and its ...

Optimized Lanthanide(III) Tags for Rapid and Efficient Protein Labeling in Electron Paramagnetic Resonance and Luminescence Applications

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 1, January 2026.
Three novel Ln(III) complexes for efficient, site‐specific cysteine labeling under mild aqueous conditions are reported. A kinetic study reveals how subtle changes to the reactive pendant arm tune tagging rates, with Tb.QuNO achieving >95% cysteine labeling in 10 min.

The In Vitro Transgenic Rodent Assay in Primary MutaMouse Hepatocytes Compared to the Mammalian Cell Gene Mutation Assay Using the HPRT Gene

open access: yesEnvironmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, Volume 67, Issue 1-2, January‐February 2026.
ABSTRACT Gene mutations can be detected in mammalian cells in vitro using indicator genes such as the hypoxanthine‐guanine‐phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT) gene. These assays have been adopted as OECD test guidelines (TG, e.g., OECD TG no. 476) and are used for regulatory purposes.

Comprehensive Genotoxicity and 28‐Day Oral Toxicity Evaluation Reveal Safety of a Standardized Anisomeles indica‐Containing Powder

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Anisomeles indica is widely used in traditional medicine and functional foods; however, its toxicological safety has not been systematically evaluated. This study evaluated the genotoxicity and subacute oral toxicity of a standardized A. indica‐containing powder (AIHP) using OECD‐compliant test guidelines.

Screening and Mechanism Study of Antibacterial Activity of Quinoline Compounds

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Quinoline compounds possess a wide range of pharmacological activities. In this paper, the antibacterial activity of 59 quinoline derivatives was evaluated against three plant bacteria in vitro. Among all the derivatives, 8‐hydroxyquinoline (8HQ) demonstrated significant antibacterial activity against Rs, Aac, Xoc, Xoo, Xac, Xcm, Xcc, Psa, and Xf, with
