Nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDPK/NM23) and the waltz with multiple partners: Possible consequences in tumor metastasis

Clinical & Experimental Metastasis, 2002
Tumor metastasis is responsible for a high degree of mortality in cancer patients. One of the genes involved in tumor metastasis is NM23. At present, eight human isoforms, transcribed from different NM23 genes, have been detected. The gene products have been identified as nucleoside diphosphate kinases (NDPKs), most of which catalyse the transfer of ...

[Nucleoside diphosphate kinase/Nm23 and metastatic potency].

Bulletin du cancer, 1994
The nm23-H1 gene encoding the nucleoside diphosphate (NDP) kinase A has been proposed as a tumor metastasis suppressor. Two important features emerge from published data: 1) an inverse correlation between the metastatic invasion and the level of NDP kinase/Nm23 was observed in melanomas, hepatocellular carcinomas and, in some studies, on breast ...

Differential expression of nucleoside diphosphate kinases (NDPK/NM23) during Xenopus early development.

The International journal of developmental biology, 1998
In Xenopus laevis, three nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDPK) monomers have been described (NDPK X1, X2 and X3) (Ouatas et al., 1997). In eucaryotes, this kinase is known as a hetero- or homohexamer. Here, we examine the distribution of the enzyme and its different subunit mRNAs during oogenesis and early embryogenesis of Xenopus laevis, respectively ...

Two Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinases (NDPK/Nm23) from the marine sponge Suberites domuncula

2006
Suberites domuncula is a member of the most ancient and simplest extant phylum of multicellular animals – Sponges (Porifera). Database of S. domucula expressed sequence tags (ESTs) was recently constructed by random cDNA sequencing. Two NDPK/Nm23 proteins from the sponge Suberites domuncula are reported here.

Chromosomal localization and nucleoside diphosphate kinase activity of human metastasis-suppressor genes NM23-1 and NM23-2.

Oncogene, 1993
Human metastasis-suppressor genes nm23-1 (NME1) and nm23-2 (NME2) are implicated in control of the metastatic potential of malignant cells. Using somatic cell hybrid analysis and fluorescence in situ hybridization we co-localized both genes to 17q21.3.

[Immunohistochemical analysis of nm23 gene product/nucleoside-diphosphate kinase expression in human lung carcinoma].

Zhonghua jie he he hu xi za zhi = Zhonghua jiehe he huxi zazhi = Chinese journal of tuberculosis and respiratory diseases, 1996
It was proposed that nm23 gene may function as a suppressor gene for tumor metastasis. Using an antibody to NDPK, levels of NDPK/nm23 expression in lung carcinomas were examined immunohistochemically, 45 of 58 squamous carcinomas and 26 of 36 adenocarcinomas showed strong immunoreactivity for NDPK/nm23 in most of cancer cells within tumor tissues.
