ABSTRACT There is a need to better understand the indications and safety profiles for therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) in children. We aimed to assess pediatric TPE practice at a large academic center by retrospective chart review from 2011 to 2022. Patient demographics and clinical information including American Society for Apheresis (ASFA) category ...

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy: Molecular Staging, Risk Factors, Therapeutics, and Emerging Trends
The heterogeneous landscape of DPN can be unified through a tripartite pathogenic model encompassing progressive stages of metabolic dysregulation, chronic inflammation, and overt neuronal damage. Within this framework, six clinical subtypes were identified, namely, hyperglycemia‐driven, dyslipidemia‐driven, inflammation‐driven, dysvascularity‐driven ...

El receptor N-metil-D-aspartato (NMDAR), uno de los principales receptores de los aminoácidos excitatorios, ha sido involucrado en el control de la secreción de la hormona luteinizante (LH) al facilitar la liberación de la hormona liberadora de la ...

Anti-myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated cerebral cortical encephalitis (MOG-CCE) occasionally exhibits cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) antibody co-positivity; however, its clinical relevance ...

Combined IVIg and 500 mg/day IVMP achieve superior efficacy over monotherapies in anti‐LGI1 encephalitis, with optimal safety. Higher‐dose IVMP (1000 mg) accelerates response but increases adverse events, particularly in diabetic patients. Cognitive deficits persist post‐treatment, necessitating long‐term management.

Potentiation increases monotonically with constant NMDAR currents with no decay.
The top panel in each subfigure shows a raster plot, with input spikes (red) and E cell spikes (blue), enlarged over the first 250 ms to show detail. Second panels are AMPAR conductance over time.

Mechanism‐Based Polypharmacy as a Repurposing Strategy: The Case of D‐Cycloserine and Lurasidone
ABSTRACT Modern psychiatric treatment often necessitates polypharmacy, yet combination regimens carry significant risks of metabolic burden and drug–drug interactions. There is growing interest in and clinical acceptance of rational, mechanism‐based drug combinations that are designed around desirable pharmacological properties rather than trial and ...

Intermediate filaments link glutamate–aspartate transporter deficiency to cochlear synaptopathy
In a healthy ear, GLAST transporters in supporting cells clear excess glutamate to protect auditory connections. When GLAST is missing, glutamate accumulates and leads to the destruction of structural scaffolding within the postsynaptic nerve endings. This internal collapse causes a loss of synapses that are essential for hearing, ultimately resulting ...

NMDAR Encephalitis, a model of synaptopathy
