Effect of essential and non-essential amino acid supplementation in canine nutrition

open access: yesRevista de Investigaciones Veterinarias del Perú, 2023
The study evaluated the effect of a nutritional supplement (composed of the 10 essential and eight non-essential amino acids) and a commercial vitamin supplement on body weight and body condition of 44 malnourished dogs (body condition 1 and 2). The animals were weighed and evaluated on days 1, 7 and 14 of treatment.

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Regulatory effects of blood constituents on the function and metabolism of the cat brain in perfusion ezperiments. Brain perfusion with artificial blood containing low molecular dextran and amino acids

open access: yes, 1967
As a link in a series of studies on the effects of blood constituents on the brain function by means of brain perfusion, we used four kinds of artificial blood; namely, the blood containing a low molecular dextran, one containing glutamic acid, one ...

The cysteine, total sulfur amino acid, tyrosine, phenylalanine + tyrosine, and non-essential amino acid maintenance requirements of broiler breeders

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2016
Two hundred and fifty Cobb-Vantress broiler breeders were used to determine the maintenance requirement and efficiency of utilization of dietary Cys, Tyr, and non-essential amino acids (AA) in a 21-day experiment. The breeders were fed crystalline amino acid diets containing graded levels of Cys or Tyr representing 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40% of their ...

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Changes in the Amino Acid Composition of Bee-Collected Pollen During 15 Months of Storage in Fresh-Frozen and Dried Forms

open access: yesFoods
Bee pollen (BP) is a nutritionally valuable natural product whose biological activity is strongly influenced by its amino acid profile. This study evaluated qualitative and quantitative changes in free amino acids in Lithuanian BP subjected to freezing (−

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
