From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

EXPLORATORY HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT OF ESSENTIAL AND NON- ESSENTIAL TRACE ELEMENTS IN CAGE-CULTURED FISH SPECIES FROM BADAGRY LAGOON, NIGERIA

open access: yesFood and Environment Safety
Fish readily accumulate trace elements from water, sediments, and feed, making them potential vectors of human exposure. This study assessed the concentrations, estimated daily intake (EDI), and potential health risks of essential and non-essential trace

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

A genome-wide association study provides insights into the genetic etiology of 57 essential and non-essential trace elements in humans

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Trace elements are important for human health but may exert toxic or adverse effects. Mechanisms of uptake, distribution, metabolism, and excretion are partly under genetic control but have not yet been extensively mapped.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Determination of essential and non-essential elements in herbal tea and camomile by polarised X rays fluorescence spectrometer (EDPXRF)

open access: yes, 2011
Essential and non-essential elements in the parts (leaves, fruits) of several kinds of herbal tea and camomile marked in Italy were determined by polarised X rays fluorescence spectrometer (EDPXRF).

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

POLARISED X RAYS FLUORESCENCE SPECTROMETER (EDPXRF) FOR THE DETERMINATION OF ESSENTIAL AND NON ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS IN TEA.

open access: yes, 2011
Polarized X ray fluorescence spectrometer (EDPXRF) is employed for the determination of essential and non essential elements in several kinds of tea marked in Italy.

Investigating the Interplay of Toxic Metals and Essential Elements in Cardiovascular Disease

open access: yesJournal of Xenobiotics
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of mortality globally, accounting for approximately one-third of all deaths. Exposure to toxic metals poses significant risks to cardiovascular health, contributing to the development of CVDs ...

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.
