Antimicrobial Peptides from Marine Proteobacteria
After years of inadequate use and the emergence of multidrug resistant (MDR) strains, the efficiency of “classical” antibiotics has decreased significantly. New drugs to fight MDR strains are urgently needed.

Genetic ablation of Cep55 in Pten‐deficient mouse models delays tumorigenesis. Integrated multi‐omics analyses (proteomics, phosphoproteomics, and spatial transcriptomics) reveal that CEP55 regulates oncogenic signaling (RAS/ERK, PI3K/AKT), integrin/FAK‐mediated adhesion, extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling, and endocytosis.

Probing protein sequences as sources for encrypted antimicrobial peptides [PDF]
Starting from the premise that a wealth of potentially biologically active peptides may lurk within proteins, we describe here a methodology to identify putative antimicrobial peptides encrypted in protein sequences.

This study reveals that Tex10 drives oxaliplatin resistance in colorectal cancer by competitively binding BRD9 to disrupt the ncBAF complex, thereby suppressing AMBRA1 transcription and ULK1‐mediated autophagy. Gemcitabine is identified as a direct Tex10 inhibitor that restores autophagy and overcomes resistance.

De novo design and engineering of non-ribosomal peptide synthetases
Peptides derived from non-ribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPSs) represent an important class of pharmaceutically relevant drugs. Methods to generate novel non-ribosomal peptides or to modify peptide natural products in an easy and predictable way are ...

Unveiling the Taxonomic Diversity and Unprecedented Biosynthetic Treasure of the Phylum Myxococcota
Natural products remain vital sources of therapeutics, and the phylum Myxococcota constitutes an especially rich reservoir for them. Based on decades of microbiological efforts, we present 154 new Myxococcota genomes and revise taxonomy quadrupling the number of families and genera.

F‐Type Pyocin Versus Phage λ Tail: Conserved Hub, Divergent Fibers
Near‐atomic cryo‐EM structures of a Gram‐negative F‐type pyocin reveal a conserved tail tip architecture shared with bacteriophage λ together with a previously unrecognized side‐fiber attachment mode. These findings provide new insight into tailocin assembly and host recognition and establish a structural framework for engineering precision ...
