Psychological Stress Associated Bile Acid Reprogramming Promotes Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Depression is increasingly recognized as a risk factor for chronic diseases, yet its biological impact on cancer remains unclear. Using data from more than 490 000 participants across three international cohorts, we show that depression significantly increases the risk of liver cancer.

RPLP2 Mediates the Beneficial Effects of Exercise on Stress Resistance Through Muscle–Brain Communication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel exercise‐inducible myokine acidic ribosomal protein P2 (RPLP2), initially identified from human trials, is presented here, whose circulating levels negatively correlate with clinical anxiety severity. Muscle‐derived RPLP2 enhances hippocampal ribosomal assembly and adult neurogenesis to rescue stress‐induced anxiety deficits.

Database and comparison of non ribosomal peptides

open access: yes, 2006
Peptides are synthesized in bacteria or fungi not only through the classical pathway from the transcription of DNA to the translation of mRNA into peptides, but also through a ribosomeindependent pathway.

Non-ribosomal Peptides as Structural Determinants of Fungal Hydrophobicity

open access: yes
Fungal surfaces must remain hydrophobic to enable growth, dispersal, and survival under fluctuating environmental conditions, yet the molecular basis of this property remains incompletely understood.

Quantitatively determined uptake of cell-penetrating peptides in non-mammalian cells with an evaluation of degradation and antimicrobial effects

open access: yes, 2006
Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are carriers developed to improve mammalian cell uptake of important research tools such as antisense oligonucleotides and short interfering RNAs. However, the data on CPP uptake into non-mammalian cells are limited.

PEAR1 Promotes Glucose Metabolism Reprogramming in Sepsis‐Associated Acute Lung Injury via AARS1‐Mediated HIF‐1α Lactylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study revealed that a PEAR1/HIF‐1α/ glycolysis/lactate/H3K18la positive feedback loop in PMVECs that drives the development of S‐ALI. Mechanistically, PEAR1 mediates the binding of HIF‐1α to AARS1, leading to the lactylation of HIF‐1α, the primary lactylation site of which is K172.

Microprotein MP104 Promotes Malignant Progression of Colorectal Cancer Through Regulating Protein Translation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A previously unrecognized microprotein, MP104, encoded by ZEB1‐AS1, emerges as a critical driver of colorectal cancer progression. MP104 links ubiquitin‐mediated protein degradation with translational reprogramming via the UBE2O–AMPKα2–mTOR–EIF4B axis, revealing an unrecognized layer of oncogenic regulation.

Aberrant GRP78 Phase Transition Sustains Endothelial IRE1α Signaling and Drives Blood–Brain Barrier Failure in Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Vascular Aβ40 corrupts GRP78 phase behavior in brain endothelial cells, sustaining IRE1α–TRAF2–JNK signaling and driving apoptosis, tight junction loss, and blood–brain barrier failure in cerebral amyloid angiopathy. Pharmacological IRE1α inhibition restores vascular integrity, reduces leakage, and improves functional outcomes, revealing a targetable ...
