The role of Artifical Intelligence (AI) in the management of nonmotor symptoms in Parkinson’s Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Movement Disorders
Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are increasingly recognized as valuable tools to support the integrated management of Parkinson’s disease (PD), a progressive neurodegenerative disorder in which effective management, particularly in advanced ...

Key Interventions in Friedreich's Ataxia and Their Impact on Patient Outcomes: A Systematic Review

open access: yesMovement Disorders, Volume 41, Issue 10, Page 2564-2591, October 2026.
Abstract Friedreich's ataxia (FA) is a rare neurodegenerative disease with multisystemic symptoms that requires multidisciplinary care. This systematic review summarizes available pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions, their outcomes, and alignment with patient‐centered care domains, as well as their impact on these domains.

Stemming the Tide: The Proactive Role of Allied Health Therapy in Parkinson’s Disease

open access: yesJournal of Parkinson’s Disease
Motor and nonmotor symptoms occur in early Parkinson’s disease (PD), or even in the prodromal stage. Many of these symptoms can be addressed by allied health therapies, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and psychological ...

Altered Timing of Self‐Voice Processing in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 64, Issue 7, October 2026.
Using a voice playback paradigm, we found that individuals with Parkinson's disease process their own voice with altered timing rather than reduced suppression: the N100 latency shift between self‐generated and externally presented voice was larger in PD, accompanied by an enhanced P200 response, while P50 and N100 amplitude were preserved.

State of the “Art” in Freezing of Gait: Drawing on Perspectives of Individuals With Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 64, Issue 7, October 2026.
Patient‐created drawings reveal that freezing of gait in Parkinson's disease is more than a motor block: an embodied experience of captured feet, chaos, emotional explosion, and fear of falling. The artworks also depict therapeutic release and joy when movement returns, highlighting how artistic expression can enrich clinician–patient communication and

Neural Correlates of Apathy in Multiple System Atrophy: A Clinical and Perfusion Imaging Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 10, October 2026.
In 76 patients with multiple system atrophy (MSA) and relatively preserved global cognition, apathy was present in 55.3%, with no association with motor severity or depressive symptoms. Reduced medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) perfusion was independently associated with apathy after adjustment for clinical variables, while exploratory covariance ...
