Delftibactin-A, a Non-ribosomal Peptide With Broad Antimicrobial Activity
The rapid emergence of drug resistant bacteria is occurring worldwide, outpacing the development of new antibiotics. It is known that some of the main sources of antibiotics are the bacteria themselves, many of which are secondary metabolites of Gram ...

Ancestral lifestyle reconstruction across the phylogeny of the 107 analysed fungal genomes. Summary Dark septate endophytes (DSE) are widespread root‐colonising fungi with poorly understood lifestyle and ecological functions. We investigated their genomic traits, sexual reproduction signatures, carbohydrate‐active enzyme (CAZyme) and secondary ...

The parallel and convergent universes of polyketide synthases and nonribosomal peptide synthetases
Polyketide synthases (PKSs) and nonribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPSs) catalyze chain elongation from simple building blocks to create a diverse array of natural products.

ABSTRACT After an initial evolution in a reducing environment, life got successively challenged by reactive oxygen species (ROS), especially during the great oxidation event (GOE) that followed the development of photosynthesis. Therefore, ROS are deeply intertwined into the physiological, morphological and transcriptional responses of most present‐day

Sustainable Routes Toward Amino Acid‐Based Surfactants: Borrowing Hydrogen Catalysis and Beyond
This perspective examines how amino acid‐based surfactants become more sustainable only when molecular architecture is matched to an appropriate synthetic disconnection. Borrowing Hydrogen catalysis provides a central route to N‐alkylated derivatives, while enzymatic, biosynthetic, and renewable‐platform strategies complement it.

Prokaryotes represent a source of both biotechnological and pharmaceutical molecules of importance, such as nonribosomal peptides (NRPs). NRPs are secondary metabolites which their synthesis is independent of ribosomes.

Reprogramming Promiscuous Nonribosomal Peptide Synthetases for Production of Specific Peptides
Pairs of docking domains (DDs) mediate the selective interations between adjacent nonribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPSs) to form defined protein–protein interactions resulting in defined peptide sequences.
