Design, evaluation, and validation of specific primers for accurate detection of VHS virus in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Accurate detection of Piscine novirhabdovirus (PNRV), also know as viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSV) in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is essential for effective aquaculture disease management. This study developed strain‐inclusive primers targeting the conserved glycoprotein (G) gene using integrated bioinformatics approaches ...

Diverging affinity of tospovirus RNA silencing suppressor proteins, NSs, for various RNA duplex molecules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The tospovirus NSs protein was previously shown to suppress the antiviral RNA silencing mechanism in plants. Here the biochemical analysis of NSs proteins from different tospoviruses, using purified NSs or NSs containing cell extracts, is described.

Substrate‐Selective Inhibition of the SARS‐CoV‐2 Papain‐Like Protease: Inhibition of Hydrolysis of Human Over Viral Substrates

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 36, 24 September 2026.
The SARS‐CoV‐2 papain‐like protease (PLpro) is a medicinal chemistry target. Here we report mass spectrometry assays employing oligopeptide substrates based on the sequences of the viral polyproteins 1a/1ab and on an ISG15‐modified human protein, which enabled the identification of substrate‐selective PLpro inhibitors.

Genotype II Live‐Attenuated ASFV Vaccine Bearing 24 Genes Deletion in 3 Independent Regions Is Able to Provide Complete Protection Against Homologous Lethal Challenge

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 17, 15 September 2026.
African swine fever (ASF) is a highly contagious and lethal viral disease of swine. Therefore, it is urgent to develop a safe and effective vaccine. We constructed a live‐attenuated ASF vaccine bearing 24 gene deletions in 3 independent regions, ASFV‐Δ24.

Nonstructural Protein-2 and the Replication of Canine Parvovirus

open access: yesVirology, 1998
The nonstructural protein-2 (NS2) of canine parvovirus (CPV) is produced from the left-hand open reading frame of the viral genome and contains 87 amino-terminal amino acids in common with nonstructural protein 1 (NS1) joined to 78 amino acids from an alternative open reading frame. In the minute virus of mice parvovirus NS2 plays a role in controlling

Oxadiazolone‐Triazole Derivatives as a New Scaffold for Modulation of Angiotensin II‐Induced Vascular Contraction

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 17, 14 September 2026.
A novel series of candidate AT1 receptor antagonists based on oxadiazolone‐triazole scaffolds was designed and synthesized. Most compounds reduced angiotensin II‐induced vascular contraction in an initial biological screening, with compound 7f emerging as the most active derivative.

Roles of the Non-Structural Proteins of Influenza A Virus

open access: yesPathogens, 2020
Influenza A virus (IAV) is a segmented, negative single-stranded RNA virus that causes seasonal epidemics and has a potential for pandemics. Several viral proteins are not packed in the IAV viral particle and only expressed in the infected host cells ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 600, Issue 17, Page 2526-2546, September 2026.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

The Future of HCV Therapy: NS4B as an Antiviral Target

open access: yesViruses, 2010
Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a major worldwide cause of liver disease, including cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. It is estimated that more than 170 million individuals are infected with HCV, with three to four million new cases ...
