Maternal Serum Matrix Metalloproteinase 14 (MMP14) in Early Onset Preeclampsia and Normal Pregnancy [PDF]
Matrix Metalloproteinases 14 presumably play for cytotrophoblast migration and invasion of the uterine wall and in the remodeling of the spiral arteries in pregnancy.

On the Smith normal form of Varchenko matrix
In this interesting paper, the authors study Smith normal forms for Varchenko matrices associated with hyperplane arrangements. Let \(\mathcal{A}\) be a hyperplane arrangement in \(\mathbb{R}^{n}\). For a hyperplane \(H \in \mathcal{A}\), define \[\mathcal{A}^{H} = \{ H \cap H^{'} \, : \, H^{'} \in \mathcal{A} \text{ such that } H^{'}\cap H \neq ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The Enumeration of Jordan′s Normal Form of k-nilpotent Matrices
As a kind of special matrices, the nilpotent matrices has good properties. In this paper, we mainly discuss the enumeration problem of the Jordan′s normal form of 4-nilpotent matrix.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Hot deformation mechanism of a rapidly-solidified Al–Zn–Mg–Cu–Zr alloy
This study systematically investigates the flow behavior of 7050 aluminum (Al) alloy produced via spray forming and subjected to a proposed pretreatment through thermal compression tests.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

High strength and plasticity in disordered multilayer graphene reinforced copper composites
Nanocrystalline (nc) metals typically possess high strength but low ductility. Here, we report an interface nanostructuring design via plasma assisted ball milling (PABM) to fabricate disordered multilayer graphene (DMGr)/Cu composites that are ultra ...

Inference on the eigenvalues of the normalized precision matrix
Recent developments in the spectral theory of Bayesian Networks has led to a need for a developed theory of estimation and inference on the eigenvalues of the normalized precision matrix, Ω . In this paper, working under conditions where n → ∞ and p remains fixed, we provide multivariate normal asymptotic distributions of the sample eigenvalues of Ω ...

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
