Therapeutic effects of carbon monoxide-saturated hemoglobin-loaded oxygen carrier on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in mice

open access: yesZhongguo shuxue zazhi
[Objective] To verify the inhibitory effect of a carbon monoxide hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier (CO-HBOC) on the fibrotic process in mice with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), clarify its efficacy difference compared with hemoglobin-based oxygen ...

SIGNIFICANCE OF COMPLEMENT PROFILE AND COMPLEMENT RECEPTOR 1 EXPRESSION IN RBC AND KIDNEY TISSUE IN IMMUNE COMPLEX MEDIATED DISEASE

open access: yesJournal of Nepal Medical Association, 2003
A study was conducted to evaluate role of complement proteins and complement receptor 1 (CR1) in pathogenesis of Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Immune complex (IC) mediated glomerulonephritis. C3, C4, C3d and CH100 in serum, CR1 in renal biopsies

CEACAM1 participation in breast cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In invasive breast cancer (BC), CEACAM1 shifts from an apical to a uniform membranous/cytoplasmic pattern, or is lost, as tumors dedifferentiate, inversely tracking the Ki‐67 proliferative index. In MCF‐7 cells, only CEACAM1‐4L suppresses proliferation, repressing cell cycle and growth factor genes.

Low serum complements in idiopathic inflammatory myositis: clinical features and impact on the prognosis

open access: yesImmunological Medicine
This study investigated the clinical features and prognostic relevance of decreased serum complement levels in patients with idiopathic inflammatory myositis (IIM). The clinical information of IIM patients with less than normal serum complement levels (L-

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

A Block-theoretic Proof of Burnside's Normal $p$-complement Theorem

open access: yes
In [3, Theorem 6.7B], the authors use the Main Theorems of Brauer to give a proof of Burnside's Normal $p$-complement Theorem. Unfortunately, the proof contains an error. We take this opportunity to give a proof along similar lines, circumventing the error by means of a well-known result on traces of totally positive cyclotomic integers.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Association of C4d with disease activity in anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis: evidence for classical/lectin complement pathway activation

open access: yesArthritis Research & Therapy
Background We aimed to investigate the involvement of the classical/lectin complement pathway in anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) by exploring the complement activation fragment C4d in association to AAV activity ...
