Determination of Stress Intensity Factors under Shock Loading Using a Diffraction-Based Technique

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
An experimental optical method has been developed for the measurement of opening and sliding notch face movements. The light passing through a thin slit is monitored by a photodiode detector.

A framework for quantification and physical modeling of cell mixing applied to oscillator synchronization in vertebrate somitogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In development and disease, cells move as they exchange signals. One example is found in vertebrate development, during which the timing of segment formation is set by a ‘segmentation clock’, in which oscillating gene expression is synchronized across a ...

Influence of brazing thermal cycling on microstructure and mechanical properties of GH4169 alloy

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng
To delve into the impacts of multiple brazing thermal cycles at varying peak temperatures on the microstructure and properties of GH4169 alloy, this study conducted a comprehensive examination of how brazing thermal cycle processes influence the ...

Uif, a large transmembrane protein with EGF-like repeats, can antagonize Notch signaling in Drosophila. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
BACKGROUND:Notch signaling is a highly conserved pathway in multi-cellular organisms ranging from flies to humans. It controls a variety of developmental processes by stimulating the expression of its target genes in a highly specific manner both ...

Notch sensitivity of ductile metallic foams: A computational study

open access: yesActa Materialia, 2011
The role of notches in the fracture strength of metal foams has been studied using a multiscale model based on a two-dimensional Voronoi representation of the cellular architecture. The effect of the crack length to the specimen width ratio on the net section strength of double edge notch (DEN) specimens and central crack panels (CCP) has been ...

Effects of pressure sensitivity and notch geometry on notch‐tip fields [PDF]

open access: yesPolymer Engineering & Science, 1998
AbstractPlane‐strain stress and slip‐line fields near the sharp and round tips of wedge‐shaped notches in perfectly plastic pressure‐sensitive materials are investigated to illustrate the effects of pressure sensitivity and notch geometry on notch‐tip fields.

MET Inhibition Sensitizes Rhabdomyosarcoma Cells to NOTCH Signaling Suppression

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a pediatric myogenic soft tissue sarcoma. The Fusion-Positive (FP) subtype expresses the chimeric protein PAX3-FOXO1 (P3F) while the Fusion-Negative (FN) is devoid of any gene translocation. FP-RMS and metastatic FN-RMS are often unresponsive to conventional therapy.

The cargo protein MAP17 (PDZK1IP1) regulates the cancer stem cell pool activating the Notch pathway by abducting NUMB [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Purpose: Cancer stem cells (CSC) are self-renewing tumor cells, with the ability to generate diverse differentiated tumor cell subpopulations. They differ from normal stem cells in the deregulation of the mechanisms that normally control stem cell ...

Pulmonary Doppler Notch Pattern in Relation with Pulmonary Vascular Resistance Index in Patients with Atrial Septal Defect

open access: yesMajalah Kardiologi Indonesia, 2021
Background: Atrial septal defect (ASD) potentially causes pulmonary hypertension (PH) and increased pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR). In previous studies, pulmonary Doppler notch was evident in patients with high PVR.

Notch (In)Sensitivity of Aluminum Matrix Syntactic Foams [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2019
Aluminum alloy (Al99.5 or AlSi12)-based metal matrix syntactic foams (MMSFs) were produced by pressure infiltration with ~65 vol % Globocer filler (33 wt % Al2O3, 48 wt % SiO2, 19 wt % Al2O3∙SiO2). The infiltrated blocks were machined by different geometry tools in order to produce notched samples.
