Experimental Study of Forced- Convection from Horizontal Rectangular Fins Array into Air Duct

open access: yesAl-Khawarizmi Engineering Journal, 2019
In this work, an experimental study has been done to expect the heat characteristics and performance of the forced-convection from a heated horizontal rectangular fins array to air inside a rectangular cross-section duct.

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

The prevalence of audiometric notches in adolescents in Germany: The Ohrkan-study

open access: yesNoise and Health, 2013
Although there is concern about increasing hearing loss in adolescents caused by leisure noise exposure, prevalence data are scarce. In an US study, about 16-17% of adolescents were affected by audiometric notches.

Functional Connectivity Linked to Cognitive Recovery After Minor Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Patients with minor stroke exhibit slowed processing speed and generalized alterations in functional connectivity involving frontoparietal cortex (FPC). The pattern of connectivity evolves over time. In this study, we examine the relationship of functional connectivity patterns to cognitive performance, to determine ...

Experimental and Theoretical Investigations on Mode I Crack Propagation in Notches under Cyclic Loading

open access: yesThe Annals of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati. Fascicle IX, Metallurgy and Materials Science, 2007
Research works regarding crack opening stresses covering various types of Mode I cracks initiated and growing in notches under cyclic loading are shown. A large number of parameters influence the crack opening behavior, i.e. material, crack length, notch

Unraveling the Molecular Mechanisms of Glioma Recurrence: A Study Integrating Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Glioma recurrence severely impacts patient prognosis, with current treatments showing limited efficacy. Traditional methods struggle to analyze recurrence mechanisms due to challenges in assessing tumor heterogeneity, spatial dynamics, and gene networks.

Efficacy of Intermittent Theta‐Burst Stimulation for Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Emerging evidence suggests that low‐frequency neural oscillations are dynamically regulated by consciousness levels, with the recovery of low cortical activity potentially serving as a neurophysiological substrate for conscious emergence. Targeted enhancement of these low‐frequency rhythms in patients with disorders of consciousness

On the functional significance of the P1 and N1 effects to illusory figures in the notch mode of presentation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2008
The processing of Kanizsa figures have classically been studied by flashing the full "pacmen" inducers at stimulus onset. A recent study, however, has shown that it is advantageous to present illusory figures in the "notch" mode of presentation, that is ...

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

A Hybrid Double Zero MVDR Beamformer That is Universal Over the Number of Second Order Notches

open access: yesIEEE Access
In a dynamic environment, close-range and fast-moving interferers transit the resolution cells rapidly, challenging the minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) beamformer’s ability to place accurate notches in each interferer’s ...
