Test the chiral magnetic effect with isobaric collisions

open access: yes, 2016
The quark-gluon matter produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions may contain local domains in which P and CP symmetries are not preserved. When coupled with an external magnetic field, such P- and CP-odd domains will generate electric currents along ...

Ladder‐Type Benzene‐Perylene Dyes with Efficient Laser Properties in the Near‐IR by Detracting/Activating Low/High Frequency Vibronic Modes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The NNR‐n series of oligomeric nanographenes delivers exceptional emission performance. This work shows that this performance is originated by their ladder‐type structure, which effectively deactivates low‐frequency vibronic modes. This deactivation neglects the main pathway for non‐emissive deactivation, even in the near‐infrared region. The potential

Puerarin exhibits greater distribution and longer retention time in neurons than astrocytes in a co-cultured system

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2015
The phytoestrogen puerarin has been shown to protect neurons and astrocytes in the brain, and is therefore an attractive drug in the treatment of Alzheimer′s disease, Parkinson′s disease and cerebral ischemia.

Kondo Metal and Ferrimagnetic Insulator on the Triangular Kagom\'e Lattice

open access: yes, 2012
We obtain the rich phase diagrams in the Hubbard model on the triangular Kagom\'e lattice as a function of interaction, temperature and asymmetry, by combining the cellular dynamical mean-field theory with the continuous time quantum Monte Carlo method ...

Rapid Diagnostics of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces Using Space‐Time‐Coding Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fast reconfigurable‐intelligent‐surface (RIS) diagnostics method is proposed based on spatio‐temporal modulation with orthogonal codes. Theoretical analysis demonstrates a clear distinction in code channel power between normal and faulty elements. Simulations validate its feasibility under high fault ratios and varying receiving angles.

Effects of cilostazol on the progression and regression of symptomatic intracranial artery stenosis: it reduces the risk of ischemic stroke

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2015
OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety of cilostazol on the progression and regression of symptomatic intracranial artery stenosis. DATA RETRIVAL: We searched the main databases for eligible trials including Medline (from 1966 to June 2014), Embase

The Euler Number of Bloch States Manifold and the Quantum Phases in Gapped Fermionic Systems

open access: yes, 2013
We propose a topological Euler number to characterize nontrivial topological phases of gapped fermionic systems, which originates from the Gauss-Bonnet theorem on the Riemannian structure of Bloch states established by the real part of the quantum ...

FeDSNP‐Pa Nanoassemblies: A Triple‐Action Therapeutic Strategy Targeting Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, and Pyroptosis for Retinal Ganglion Cell Protection in Glaucoma

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
FeDSNP‐Pa, a metallized nanoparticle loaded with sodium pyruvate (Pa), exerts triple therapeutic effects by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS), suppressing inflammatory responses, and inhibiting pyroptosis signaling pathways. This multifunctional neuroprotective strategy protecting retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) from elevated intraocular pressure ...

Lateral intracerebroventricular injection of Apelin-13 inhibits apoptosis after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2015
Apelin-13 inhibits neuronal apoptosis caused by hydrogen peroxide, yet apoptosis following cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury has rarely been studied. In this study, Apelin-13 (0.1 µg/g) was injected into the lateral ventricle of middle cerebral artery

Solution and testing of the Abraham-Minkowski controversy in light-atom interacting system

open access: yes, 2011
We present the origin of the Abraham-Minkowski controversy of light-matter wave interacting system, which is a special case of the centaury-old Abraham-Minkowski controversy.
