The nuclear factor - kappa B pathway in atherosclerosis: A potential therapeutic target for atherothrombotic vascular disease

open access: yes, 2011
Nuclear factor kappa B (NF kappa B) is a transcription factor belonging to 'Rel' family that represents a crucial intracellular signal transduction system involved in several inflammatory diseases including atherosclerosis.

TRAIP Mediates Alcohol‐Induced Liver Injury through Regulating β‐catenin Ubiquitin Degradation via Direct Interaction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that NF‐κB1‐driven TRAIP upregulation in ALD correlates with disease severity. Mechanistically, TRAIP directly binds β‐catenin via its CC domain and promotes its K48‐linked ubiquitination and degradation, which is independent of the GSK3β/β‐TrCP pathway.

Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

Chiral Nanoparticles Suppress Inflammatory Infiltration to Promote Extracellular Matrix Remodeling for Ectopia Lentis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
L‐cysteine‐configured chiral polyurethane nanoparticles suppress ocular inflammation and reduce extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation in ectopia lentis by regulating macrophages polarization and inhibiting nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathway. By promoting zonular fiber‐associated protein restoration and tissue repair, this minimally invasive ...

Tale of two transcription factors: NF-кB and HIF crosstalk [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Hypoxia-inducible factor is a key transcriptional factor involved in the cellular response to low levels of oxygen, hypoxia. Moreover, hypoxia-inducible factor has been recently associated with a role in inflammation and immunity.

C-Reactive Protein Induces Interleukin-6 and Thrombospondin-1 Protein and mRNA Expression through Activation of Nuclear Factor-kappa B in HK-2 Cells

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Although C-reactive protein (CRP) is significantly increased in patients with diabetic nephropathy, whether CRP exerts direct proinflammatory effects on human renal tubular epithelial cells (HK-2 cells) is still unclear.

Astrocytic LMP2 Coordinates NF‐κB and TGF‐β1/Smad3 Signaling to Drive Neuroinflammation after Cerebral Ischemia/Reperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Astrocyte reactivity critically shapes neuroinflammatory outcomes after ischemic stroke, yet the upstream regulators governing astrocyte state transitions remain incompletely defined. Here, we identify the immunoproteasome subunit low molecular weight protein 2 (LMP2) as an important modulator of astrocyte functional remodeling following ...

Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) in multiple sclerosis pathology

open access: yes, 2013
The nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappa B) signaling cascade plays a critical role in the regulation of immune and inflammatory responses and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of autoimmune demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and ...

Broadening Hard‐Magnet Discovery Beyond Symmetry Constraints via Unified Effective Anisotropy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A unified effective‐anisotropy descriptor (Keff) extends hard‐magnet screening across all seven crystal systems, beyond the uniaxial restriction of conventional searches. Machine‐learning screening of 9320 known ferromagnets and diffusion‐model generation together yield 38 rare‐earth‐free or ‐lean candidates with DFT‐validated magnetic hardness (κ > 1),
