An attenuated live vaccine (OTS‐300) expressing the XBB.1.5 Spike provided rapid and complete protection against homologous challenge in the hamster model, accompanied by fast systemic and mucosal antibody responses and markedly reduced transmission compared with XBB.1.5 mRNA vaccination.

Intracellular Nucleocapsid RNA of Mumps Virus
Intracellular nucleocapsids, virtually free of host proteins and nucleic acids, were purified from cells acutely infected with several strains of mumps virus. VIral RNA obtained from the nucleocapsids was predominantly a single 50S species, with 28S RNA occurring as a secondary peak in the RNA profile. Nucleocapsids yielded approx. 9 micrograms 50S RNA

ABSTRACT Background and Aim Janus kinases/signal transducers and activators of transcription (JAK/STAT) pathway is crucial for various stages of immunity, from innate to adaptive responses. Type 1 IFNs activate JAK/STAT pathway by binding to receptors on JAK, phosphorylating STAT and upregulating interferon‐stimulated genes (ISGs) leading to cytokines ...

ABSTRACT Background Since December 2019, SARS‐CoV‐2 has infected over 700 million people and caused > 7 million deaths. While much of the global north was severely affected, sub‐Saharan Africa was relatively spared. Possible reasons include a younger population, fewer comorbidities, and pre‐existing immunity.

Characterization of the putative wobbly possum disease virus : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Veterinary Virology at Massey University, Manawatū, New Zealand [PDF]
The objective of this PhD was to characterise a marsupial arterivirus, termed wobbly possum disease virus (WPDV), and to confirm aetiological involvement of the virus in the development of a neurological disease of the Australian brushtail possum ...

ABSTRACT SARS‐CoV‐2 infection is linked to persistent neurological symptoms Post‐Acute Sequelae SARS‐CoV‐2 (neuro‐PASC) and elevated risk of neurodegenerative disease, but molecular events connecting acute viral injury to long‐term CNS dysfunction remain unclear.

Cytomegalovirus: Nucleocapsid Assembly and Core Structure
New ultrastructual aspects of cytomegalovirus nucleocapsid assembly are illustrated in cells from a Kaposi sarcoma. The occurrence of viral deoxyribonucleoproteins in the form of strands and penetration of these strands into open capsids is illustrated. The geometrical arrangement of the core material of the nucleocapsid is aslo emphasized.

Novel phenylalanine derivatives were identified as HIV‐1 capsid inhibitors. IC‐2i showed significant anti‐HIV‐1 activity at picomolar concentrations. ABSTRACT The HIV‐1 capsid (CA) is a validated antiviral target that plays critical roles in both the early and late stages of the viral life cycle.
