Synthesis and Antiviral Activity of a Series of 2′-C-Methyl-4′-thionucleoside Monophosphate Prodrugs
The NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a validated target for nucleoside antiviral drug therapy. We endeavored to synthesize and test a series of 4′-thionucleosides with a monophosphate prodrug moiety for their antiviral ...

On the internal photorelaxation mechanism of DNA [PDF]
We propose a model for the photo-deactivation mechanism for DNA based upon accurate quantum chemical and molecular dynamical evaluations of model Watson/Crick nucleoside pairs and stacked pairs. Our results corroborate recent ultrafast experimental studies on DNA oligonucleotides and suggest that following photo-excitation to a local $\pi-\pi^*$ state,

Predicting inhibitors for SARS-CoV-2 RNA-dependent RNA polymerase using machine learning and virtual screening [PDF]
Global coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19) caused by newly identified SARS- CoV-2 coronavirus continues to claim the lives of thousands of people worldwide. The unavailability of specific medications to treat COVID-19 has led to drug repositioning efforts using various approaches, including computational analyses.

Preparation of 4 '-spirocyclobutyl nucleoside analogues as novel and versatile adenosine scaffolds
Despite the large variety of modified nucleosides that have been reported, the preparation of constrained 4 '-spirocyclic adenosine analogues has received very little attention.

T-cell cytotoxicity in the absence of viral protein synthesis in target cells [PDF]
CYTOTOXIC T cells lyse only those virus infected target cells in vitro which express, in addition to the viral antigen(s), those K or D region products of the major histocompati-bility complex (MHC) which were present during anti-viral sensitisation in ...

Diagram illustrating the binding methods of NPs and biological barriers. The biological carrier‐mediated nanomedicine hitchhiking strategy (BCM‐NHS) utilizes two distinct techniques: the surface‐based “Backpack” method, which relies on ligand‐receptor binding, covalent conjugation, and non‐covalent binding, and the encapsulated “Trojan horse” approach,

Investigation of 5’-Norcarbocyclic Nucleoside Analogues as Antiprotozoal and Antibacterial Agents
Carbocyclic nucleosides have long played a role in antiviral, antiparasitic, and antibacterial therapies. Recent results from our laboratories from two structurally related scaffolds have shown promising activity against both Mycobacterium tuberculosis ...

Inhibition of Tyrosyl-DNA Phosphodiesterase 1 by Lipophilic Pyrimidine Nucleosides
Inhibition of DNA repair enzymes tyrosyl-DNA phosphodiesterase 1 and poly(ADP-ribose)polymerases 1 and 2 in the presence of pyrimidine nucleoside derivatives was studied here. New effective Tdp1 inhibitors were found in a series of nucleoside derivatives

Three PtIV prodrugs MRP, DRP, and HRP are designed to induce pyroptosis in low GSDME‐expressing tumor cells via the Caspase‐3/GSDME pathway. By relaxing chromatin and reactivating GSDME, HRP can effectively induce pyroptosis, enhance pro‐inflammatory cytokine production, and exhibit potent antitumor effects.
