Exploring the Discrepancies in the Biological Activities of Extracts From Guadua angustifolia Var. Bicolor Londoño Collected in Two Different Sites

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Guadua angustifolia var. bicolor Lodoño is a Colombian bamboo species that has shown promising medicinal properties. This study aims to investigate the differences in the chemical composition and biological activity of extracts from two different populations of G. angustifolia var. bicolor, collected in Bauru and Tatuí, Brazil.

The search for an identification of amino acids, nucleobases and nucleosides in samples returned from Mars [PDF]

open access: yes
The Mars Sample Return mission will provide us with a unique source of material from our solar system; material which could advance our knowledge of the processes of chemical evolution. As has been pointed out, Mars geological investigations based on the

Reactivity of Carbohydrate Phosphodiesters, Potential Targets of Antibacterial Agents

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
A simple carbohydrate phosphodiester model was synthesized to compare the reactivity of phosphodiester bonds within carbohydrates and RNA. ABSTRACT While monosaccharide units in bacterial carbohydrates may be linked with phosphodiester bonds, human carbohydrates exclusively contain glycosidic linkages.

Recent Advances in Isatin–Thiazole Hybrids: Synthesis, Structural Design, and Biological Application

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Isatin–thiazole hybrids are considered privileged chemical scaffolds due to their broad spectrum of pharmacological properties, making them attractive candidates for drug development. As a result, isatin–thiazole derivatives have emerged as a prominent class of hybrid heterocycles and have been the focus of extensive research in recent years ...

Hybridization Probes Featuring a Pyrenylpyridine C‐Nucleoside or Its Palladacycle as a Fluorescent Sensor Moiety

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
When placed in the middle of a double helix as a nucleobase surrogate, pyren‐1‐ylpyridine and its palladacyclic derivative show fluorescence emission sensitive to the identity of the canonical nucleobase opposite to it. Emission of the palladacycle is weaker but the base discrimination stronger, possibly because of Pd(II)‐mediated base pairing.
