Electronic signature of DNA nucleotides via transverse transport [PDF]
We report theoretical studies of charge transport in single-stranded DNA in the direction perpendicular to the backbone axis. We find that, if the electrodes which sandwich the DNA have the appropriate spatial width, each nucleotide carries a unique signature due to the different electronic and chemical structure of the four bases.

Relationship between promoter sequence and its strength in gene expression [PDF]
In this study, through various tests one theoretical model is presented to describe the relationship between promoter strength and its nucleotide sequence. Our analysis shows that, promoter strength is greatly influenced by nucleotide groups with three adjacent nucleotides in its sequence.

Identification of single nucleotides in MoS2 nanopores [PDF]
Ultrathin membranes have drawn much attention due to their unprecedented spatial resolution for DNA nanopore sequencing. However, the high translocation velocity (3000-50000 nt/ms) of DNA molecules moving across such membranes limits their usability.

Dependence of nucleotide physical properties on their placement in codons and determinative degree [PDF]
Various physical properties such as dipole moment, heat of formation and energy of the most stable formation of nucleotides and bases were calculated by PM3 (modified neglect of diatomic overlap, parametric method number 3) and AM1 (Austin model 1) methods. As distinct from previous calculations, for nucleotides the interaction with neighbours is taken

Cytidine Triphosphate Synthase Four From Arabidopsis thaliana Attenuates Drought Stress Effects
Cytidine triphosphate synthase (CTPS) catalyzes the final step in pyrimidine de novo synthesis. In Arabidopsis, this protein family consists of five members (CTPS1–5), and all of them localize to the cytosol.

Light–Nucleotide versus Ion–Nucleotide Interactions for Single-Nucleotide Resolution
Several parallel reads of ionic currents through multiple CsgG nanopores provide information about ion-nucleotide interactions for sequencing single-stranded DNA (ss-DNA) using base-calling algorithms. However, the information in ion-nucleotide interactions seems insufficient for single-read nanopore DNA sequencing.

In our search for novel biocatalysts for the synthesis of nucleic acid derivatives, we found a good candidate in a putative dual-domain hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HGPRT)/adenylate kinase (AMPK) from Zobellia galactanivorans (ZgHGPRT ...

Umami taste as a driver for sustainable eating
In the present article it is proposed that a focus on taste is instrumental for promoting a green transition towards a more sustainable eating behaviour involving a more plant-based diet.
